It took some good guessing, from what I understand.My parents were kids when that happened. My mom said when she was a little girl, she would go to bed afraid that Japanese soldiers would invade and cut her throat during the night. That event created a lot of fear. My dad was a kid as well, but his older brother was an airplane mechanic in the pacific during the war. It took a lot to defeat the Japanese military, which was a fierce, dedicated, and organized fighting force.
I know that Germany gets all the bad publicity{and rightly so}but the Japanese Empire circa WW2 and a little before were downright evil and sadistic.
