Listening to the LBOH show with Primetime, he thinks that the Cowboys should hire a Defensive coach for the HC job that would get this young up and coming defense to play to its potential. He said Romo will be fine with a decent QB coach but to go to the next level, a Defensive HC is what we need. I agree with him 100%. One of the names Deion threw out that would be a great HC is Rex Ryan because he is very innovative on how he plays defense. LBOH likes Ron Rivera. We have some guys on this board with some great ideas so what do you think? DC or OC for the HC position. When you give your answer, tell me why a OC or DC would be good for this team

I'm hoping for a coach who can lead a team, you hire a DC and OC to implement what you want to do but I think the ability to get 53 guys moving in the right directions is the job of the HC and he can't afford to over look one side of the ball or not have their respect.

I'm a defensive guy myself, give me Rivera, and not Marco

Defensive minded coaches usually make for better head coaches.

I always prefer a defensive head coach over an offensive one.

Parcells was not a defensive minded coach, he just loves LBs and TEs and he likes the 3-4, if he was a defensive minded coach he would have fired Zimmer and hired a blitz happy coach

Says who? Walsh , Gibbs, Lombardi,Shanahan, Holmgren, Shula, Noll. Many more I didnt mention .All offense minded guys first.

More Super Bowls have been won by offense first guys than defense.

That could be true but they're also more likely to need really good coordinators to go with them.

Or so I hear about Jimmy, BP and BB.

Even good DC's because even though the HC's are D guys themselves, they have to worry about alot more than just the Defense.. and it's not like they usually ever actually call the D on a play by play basis as an HC anyway.

At least in many cases an Offesnive minded HC will call the plays so having a top notch OC might not be as important.

Care to back that up?

Jimmy, Parcells, Landry, Belichick and many others have been pretty successful.

I'd say on AVG the best coaches in the NFL today are on the defensive side of the ball.

Not to mention both coaches in this year are defensive minded.

Last years coach was defensive minded.

I'll always take a defensive coach.

Name me the best coaches in the NFL today and tell me what side of the ball they coach.

Belicheck, Jimmy, Cowher, Parcells, John Madden there alot of DC there also.

It's subjective. This team needs alot more fire on Defense. It plays well below its' potential. A guy like Rivera or Ryan would be my choice. The offense just needs to get younger and plug a few holes like on the OL. I choose defensive fire! No more December collapses on D.

You can't really peg some guys as being on one side of the ball or another. Look at Landry. He played defense and coached defense for the Giants. Yet, look at what he did on offense when he became HC for Dallas. The "multiple offense," the spread offense, and he led a pretty devastating offensive machine.

I want a head coach for the Cowboys, I don't care what side of the ball he came from.

Sure . Go to NFL.com . Look at who won the Super Bowl. Ask yourself if they were offense first or defense first guys. Or Both. More were offense.

Jimmy, Parcells, Landry, Belichick and many others have been pretty successful.

Landry invented the Flex defense but he also called and innovated our offense for his career not our defense so that ones a push. He was not a "defensive coach"

Um .OK

1 Belichek defense
2. Reid Offense
3. Holmgren Offense
4 Shanahan Offense
5. Fisher Defense
6. Mangini Defense
7. Gruden Offense
8. Billick Offense
9. Dungy Defense
10. Lovie Smith Defense

5-5. Top 5 is 3-2 offense .Your point???

Offensive minded coach! We need a coach that will be in attack mode sometimes. Not a coach like Parcells that goes into attack mode when we are behind.

Same here. I want a guy who knows how to lead and demands respect as well as the ability to run a tight ship. Offensive minded or defensive minded is least of my concern
