Defensive enthusiasm (real or phony?)

Did everyone catch the defensive enthusiasm at various times that lasted for about 1 play each time? They would jump on each other and celebrate one good play, and then give up 9 on the next one.

You see it in football all the time. That phony enthusiasm doesn't work. It doesn't last unless the team can execute. What we need is good fundamental defense and we are having way too many breakdowns. Teams are just walking all over the defense.

Phony.

The team seemed to quit right after the 1st TD was called back.

They have been unable to step up any time the offense needs them. I mean, you can blame Romo all you want with his turnovers. But at the end, he put up 24 points. The defense couldnt stop Detroit at all.

I think they had moments of Real enthusiasm, but it was overshadowed by the amount of despair.

It was very staged and very phony.

James in particular.

It looked like they were trying to jump start themselves. The way the team is playing now, it will take some really lucky breaks to win a playoff game.

That defense is SORELY lacking leadership.

It's all hot air right now.

I just can't agree with all the negative posts about our defense's effort today.

They sucked...they cost us the game...they gave up 39 points...the secondary couldn't cover anyone, but

We had the best pass rush I've seen all year...I think the effort was there...I think guys were running hard, playing till the whistle, and truly hustling...I felt the front line really gave a great effort, it wasn't just Ware for a change...there was penetration and push from the middle...guys were flying around to make tackles.

There was a big difference in today's effort versus the Philly game, imo...I think the effort was there, but we just couldn't cover anyone ever, especially on 3rd down.

All blow & no show.

This D has a confidence problem to put it kindly. Plus a few other problem that have been dicussed at length.

25 yard completion on 3rd and 10 gets the Lions in the red zone.
*Cue Manningesque 'Aw shucks' look*

Stop Harris for a 2 yard gain
*Cue pile driver 360 slam dunk screaming and fist pumps*

Wide open TD pass to former Rams safety
*Cue Manningesque 'Aw shucks' look*

Rinse, repeat to the tune of 39 points.
I half expected to see the cursed 'jump shot' every time we didn't give up 10 yards. :bang2:
