Yeah, me too. But this award is also for things he does "off the field" in his charity work and things done for the community. I'm not too familiar with his charity work, but I'm sure he is doing something.Hope he gets it.
One of steadiest players year in - year out.
Already been posted.DeMarcus Lawrence has long been an agent of chaos on the field, making a career out of altering the game plans of opposing quarterbacks. But the Cowboys defensive end is also a relentless instrument of change off the field, too, and he’s being recognized for that work with his latest accolade.
Lawrence is the Cowboys’ nominee for the 2023 Walter Payton Man of the Year Award.
Quarterback Dak Prescott, who won the award last year, surprised Lawrence with the announcement on Monday.

A good player and a good man.Hope he gets it.

There are thirty-two players = individuals that are nominated by their team franchises that want the league to know what they do outside of their performance in the sport.I think it is really awesome that he got the nomination. He is Cowboy for life. But.. no way the league gives it to a Cowboy player 2 years in a row. Sucks for DLaw
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. It's almost like someone tied a $50 bill on a string. Well, I hope it feels like an honor to be nominated.I think it is really awesome that he got the nomination. It is narrow-minded of you to think Lawrence doesn't get selected for the award because his teammate was honored the previous year.I think it is really awesome that he got the nomination. He is Cowboy for life. But.. no way the league gives it to a Cowboy player 2 years in a row. Sucks for DLaw
It's not narrow minded to think the league might want to spread the accolades to another team.It is narrow-minded of you to think Lawrence doesn't get selected for the award because his teammate was honored the previous year.
Every team selects a player that they feel did such outstanding service to the community that they could be a worthy recipient of 'NFL Man of the Year'.
If you review the list --there are just as many players nominated who are not known nationally around the league for their performance in the game - unlike the "stars" we NFL fans see and hear about each week during the season - a number who were selected by their teams for their contributions away from the sport.
It is a difficult decision to single out one individual's work to be above his 31 other peers - that is why the league has everyone of them be present every year at the Super Bowl to be seen and acknowledged.
