I forgot just how incredibly good Dez was

He was a great contested ball receiver, probably the best in the league during his prime and he caught a lot of TDs but he’s down the list of all time great Cowboys receivers. He only had 3 great seasons and wasn’t a good route runner. He had a difficult time separating which is why he was in so many contested ball battles. He’s best remembered for a catch that didn’t count. He’s behind Irvin, Pearson, Hayes and TO on the all time Cowboys list.

After watching some Dez film I forgot just how incredibly good he was. I think he is arguably as good as anyone who ever played the position for the cowboys.
Thoughts?
An amazing WR.

The broken leg killed his speed.

Romo never shied away from tossing up a contested ball. Dak is the QB that will eat a sack over tossing a contested ball.
A number of those contested balls for Dez were picked off. Romo was a gunslinger and gave Dez a lot of chances at jump balls. Romo not shying away got him in a lot of trouble, especially forcing balls to other receivers.

For a couple of seasons nobody could stop the redzone fade with him and Romo. Had Dez focused more on route running and less on his physical ability to get by alone, he would have been much greater imo.

True. But in terms of using Dez the way he needed to be used is what Romo excelled at.

And yet he's still in good company his touchdowns mattered and by the way he was a better route runner than people give him credit for not the greatest but that's a misnomer in my opinion that was a made up narrative he was double teamed a lot.. You don't get double teamed if you can't get open and can't run routes that was something he did really well is 5050 balls like Megatron but he had more to offer than that the man was great in space and he caught a lot of touchdowns I mean his touchdowns were insane is there anything that's not something to sneeze at, I believe he has the most receiving TDS in the history of the Dallas Cowboys.

You didn't do that just by being all the jump over somebody sorry man he had great hands he did run good routes he did it all and yeah it may have been for four years but it's a pretty damn good 4 year stretch....

Dez Bryant is the all-time leading touchdown catch receiver for the Dallas Cowboys with 73 receiving touchdowns. He holds the record, surpassing Bob Hayes (71) and Michael Irvin (65).

thats some damn good company for "50-50" jump ball guy LOL its as if they knew it was coming and couldn't defend it..so only 3 good years i say 4 hes 5th all time on the DC list and it includes TEs!!

whats odd is how quick Austin and Coop jumped up on that list only active player CD will pass dez in 2 seasons in yards and receptions but DEz TDs may take a long career for him..that impressive!!

MI , It's going to be tough for anyone to catch his productivity and he's got the bling that's all he needs is two initials that would be the best to ever play for the Dallas Cowboys bar none until further notice just like Emmett Smith I don't know who's catching him...

Romo definitely excelled at throwing balls up for grabs.
He really mean to try to put a dig on Romo I mean is that like necessary and actually it's not true it's like saying Prescott throws a lot of interceptions it's also not true..

I believe without looking and you know me I'm about to go look tony Romo probably has the best touchdown and interception ratio and not far behind is Prescott but as Dallas Cowboys they were known for not turning the ball over somehow the narrative because that's the only thing people want to remember is the bad years or the bad games but they don't realize for their careers they had high completion percentages and a very good touchdown to intercepted ratio in the league in the nfl not just as Dallas Cowboys...

romo-Career Stats: Over his 13-season career, Romo threw 248 touchdown passes and 117 interceptions, resulting in a career TD/INT ratio of 2.12

Dak-213 tds 82 INTs - Dak Prescott is ranked in the top 10 among all-time quarterbacks in terms of touchdown to interception ratio. Specifically, he is ranked #2 with a ratio of 4.0. His ratio is higher than players like Kirk Cousins (3.6) and Lamar Jackson (3.43)

Troy-Ouch!! Explain why is it that with such a great offensive line and a play collar and a run game that ran through Emmett Smith did Troy have to throw so many picks? Troy Aikman's career touchdown-to-interception (TD-INT) ratio is 165 touchdowns to 141 interceptions. This translates to a TD/INT ratio of 1.17. His completion percentage was 61.5%.

Roger- 153 Tds 109 INTs I mean we all know it brought more to that to this i'm not trying to diss anyone but I'm really tired of hearing about how bad our last two quarterbacks were turning them all over.. .

Queue those that are going to say era oh my God the era it was so different not really....

What about Drew? Or TO? Or CeeDee?

Off season like I guess

Maybe you are stuck in off season mode, ..

for you don't even mention Michael Irvin who is the best 88 probably the best wide receiver we've ever had what kind of stats and Hardware, i'm not sure even CD Lamb is going to end up playing long enough to touch Irvin's career production... But here's the thing Dez Bryant was impressive because his touchdowns over a short amount of time leads the entire Dallas Cowboys history for receiving touchdowns with 73... I mean that's probably a really great attribute to only have technically four good years with the Cowboys he only played eight years but it got most of his stats in four years and to have that many touchdowns is why people remember him for being one of the great eighty eights he was impressive..

I think that's what people are missing it was the short career in having all those stats in a very short time yes his prime was only four years but that's crazy the numbers he put up in four years...

lol...Romo and Witten are not going into the Ring of Honor. What have they done to deserve it?
Dude are you just trying to troll absolutely jason Witten will be in there very soon he absolutely deserves it he's the all time leading receiver of the Dallas Cowboys one of the best careers ever by a tight end and somehow you don't believe he's should be up there somehow how's that please don't explain it because whatever you say is probably not going to go over well...

Tony Romo probably doesn't but there can be a debate that he deserves to be in there but then when Prescott beats all his stats then you'd have to put em both in so in the end that'll be something Jerry Jones gonna have to decide which one he'd rather put in if any I don't understand your concept do you think they have to win Super Bowls to be in the ring of honor no they have to be pretty much the best at the position not have to rings rings are a team effort a team concept that is done by great teams and great coaching staffs but when you leave your team At your position pretty much own records you do get up for debate into the R O H...

That's why Romo is probably out because it's too soon but Prescott when he finishes career probably in the next 2 years he will own probably every passing record including some NFL records in completion percentage touchdown interception ratios I mean he should at least be considered not saying it can't be debated but Jason Witten no debate the man 100 percent belongs in the ring of honor Debate no talking....

A great receiver in my book and if Romo and Witten get into the Ring of Honor I believe Dez should follow them.
I don't know if Romo is getting get there and Dez would have a hard time getting there because now CD Lamb is already on his tail as I posted up there he's running up that board really quick... But the fact that Prescott is overtaking Romo in just about every category very soon he'll be considered before Romo but Jason Witten there should be no debate he doesn't need those other two in he should be out of those three the undisputable easy to vote him in that it's a hundred percent hard yes.... I mean he is the Dallas Cowboys all time receptions and yards later and second in touchdowns how do you not put him in I mean isn't Michael Irvin in because he's overtaken Michael Irvin and I realized it took a lot of years to do so but it still happened..

Anyone who thinks Jason Witten's career was overrated somehow discounting his numbers and what he did for this franchise needs to be blocked they should be suspended for six months from posting they already on my ignore list the guy below you know one star review guy LOL
