Per The Ticket. So get rid of that pipe dream. Sorry, that's LeBeau...lol.

Unless he is hired as a head coach.....

Asst. Head Coach Dick Lebeau. Still a possibility.

I have a feeling that the next coach here will be a defensive guy, Phillips or Rivera, and that they will handle most of the DC responsibilities,, So to me, the interesting hire will be the OC.

I wouldn't want him as a head coach anyway- he sucked with the Bengals-he's like Capers, a great DC but no more.

Or the new Head Coach has a very good working relationship with him and he follows....hmmmm....Russ Grimm.

Plus wouldn't that PO those in Washington watching him win a Super Bowl in Dallas.

He can't, he's under contract from the Steelers, he can only leave if it's a promotion.

That is weird. So you hire a Tampa-2 guy, to run a team that runs a 3-4 aggro scheme? Why hire Tomlin if you are going to continue to run LeBeau's defense?

I want him as the DC, but not as the HC. I still say

Head Coach: Rex Ryan
Offensive Coordinator: Dan Henning
Defensive Cooridnator: Dom Capers (since there is rumor he hasn't actually signed in Miami yet)

That is a weird hire all around and the Stealers faithful are none too happy either, but many are upset for totally different reasons.

HC: Rex Ryan/Russ Grimm
OC: Somebody good with young QBs
DC: Mike Singletary

There's many, many ways to call a lateral move a "promotion". Assistant Head Coach...Heck you could even call him the DC/assistant GM in charge of secondary personnel.

Has that ever happened in the NFL? I can't think of a case.

The Assistant Head Coach title has been used more times than I can count to get around the "lateral move" rule.

The Assistant GM hasn't been used yet but it will the first time a team wants to poach a coach and already has someone with the AHC title. It's just a matter of time before someone uses it to skirt the rule.
