Did any family members fight in World War II?

My grandad was in the Royal Signals of the British Army. He served in the middle eastern campaign, Hitlers soft underbelly as Churchill would call it. He was based at Mena near the pyramids.

He didn't talk much about the war on his return but he thought the world of the Americans, he said you were kind, friendly and always willing to share what they had, which was a lot more than the British army provided.

Family members fighting? My family is Irish so it's normal to have internal fights and squabbles but if an ill word s said from the outside, the entire family unites. J/K :D

My grandfathers were both in the Navy during WWII. One served in the Battle of Midway, while the other served in the Battle of the Aleutian Islands. I remember when I was a child hearing my grandfathers discuss which one had it worse.

Two Uncles in WWII in the Navy.
One lost in South Pacific - on the Juneau with the 5 Sullivan Brothers.
One made it through. He was in Pearl Harbor on December 7th.
