Didn't Jimmy Johsnon's Cowboys lose by a shutout against Philly in the '92 SB season?

I'm not at all suggesting that this team is comparable to the 92 Cowboys. But I think this happens to all coaches, even the great ones. The team they are in charge of is simply not ready and plays without fire.

The worst thing Jerry Jones can do is something crazy like firing Parcells and hiring one of those other 496 coaches left in the country that can run the Cowboys. Remember Jerry Jones' line when he ran Johnson out of Dallas?

Switzer, Gailey, Campo, Parcells. That leaves 496 of them out there.

Who cares?

This is 2005, the last thing Cowboys fans should be thinking about is going to Valley Ranch, looking at the 5 Lombardis and taking a stroll down memory lane.

I think you're thinking of two games.

The one w/ the shutout was the first Eagles game in '91, where they blitzed the holy hell out of the Cowboys offense and Troy took a real beating. 24-0 final I believe, pretty reminiscent of yesterday.

The SB year one was Week 4 or thereabouts of the '92 season in Philly, a Monday Night debacle with a 31-7 final, but as I recall, those Cowboys were a lot more competitive that day (in spite of the score) than we were yesterday. We actually moved the ball decently in that game only to have a couple of back breaking turnovers in Eagles territory.

Hell, if we are going into history, remember in 1995, we lost twice to the Commanders even though they were terrible. We were also killed by the 49ers at home.

It is meaningless but I get the original point.

CCF, I remember the one at RFK that year, where there was talk that Aikman was a bit soft after going out with a pulled calf muscle? Wade Wilson finished that one and we lost to Heath Shuler I believe?

The 49er loss that regular season was completely surreal.

Yep Aikman went down without being touched in that game at Washington... he looked like a sniper got him in the calf and went down like a beanbag. Some people think he did that on purpose to avoid having to beat his ol' coordinator Norv.

The Niners beat the Cowboys that year without Young or Watters... just Rice who promptly made a fool out of Bill Bates when he tried to cover him out of the slot.

Keep digging in history. The last time we were swept by the Skins we won the SuperBowl
That's about as stupid as the Skins fans earlier in the year saying the last time they were 3-0 that the Skins won the Super Bowl. Keep digging.

Good post Irving Cowboy. As I recall, Skip Bayless really stirred up that theory on Aikman-Turner in one of this books.
