Disappointed in the Tony Romo Doc

"Now or Never: A Tony Romo Story" was thoroughly disappointing. First, the good: it had a LOT of interview time with Tony. ("I thought the pass I threw to Dez in the GB game was the best pass I ever threw.") Good interviews with dad, his coaches. Really good footage of him as a high school basketball player and high school footballer. The bad: these went on and on and on. The footage was incredibly sparse. I wanted to hear what Tony thought about plays---about his 5 INT WIN vs Buffalo, or some of the great passes he made as vs. JJ Watt's attempted sack. The only one they talked about in depth was the snap over his head vs. Rams that he managed to pick up. I would have liked to have heard his take on why the team never made it to the next level. No interviews with Cowboy coaches, or Jason Witten, or receivers like Terrill Owens or Dez, of linemen.
Above all, it's like they got super cheap acquiring actual footage from the NFL. You can go on youtube and find better compilations of his actual PLAY. Again, the purpose of a doc like this should be to show the audience what they can't see on youtube, but not to totally ignore the basis of the film itself. Didn't mention his wife, marriage, faith (if he has any),

I don't we will ever get the real Tony story. A real Tony story should highlight being coached by Parcells, how the TO drama impacting his relationships with players, JGs shortfalls, Dez caught it, and the decision to go with Dak, his retirement.

Romo really has one of the best stories in sports when it comes to unlikely rises to fame. His tenure in Dallas was pretty packed full of drama, heartache, and a little triumph here and there. It is a shame that no filmmakers have decided to do it justice.

I hope a Tony Romo 30 for 30 comes out one of these days. The installment of "A football Life" that covers his career is pretty good if you're interested in that. Pretty sure the whole thing is available on YouTube.

I don't think we will ever get a truthful version of the entire Tony Romo story from an insider's POV. He has too much to lose in his broadcasting career if he really let people know what was going on behind closed doors with Dallas.

I love Romo. But I hate living in the past, talking about has beens. I'll always respect Romo. But I don't have the time to watch a documentary about someone I'm already familiar with.

Just doesn't move the needle for me. Same goes for all the ROH babble. I think it's all nonsense.

There's a time and place for such stuff, and it sailed with full coverage. What more is there to say?

This post saved me typing something similar myself.

There is a difference between having the physical ability, developing the knowledge
and making the right decisions at the right time to play the position.

Tony excelled at the first two.

And that's all I have to say about that,

Guess I don’t have to watch it now OP.

Just kidding.

Tony was a good story for an undrafted FA.

Was never a big fan because of his screwups in big games. But I truly believe he would have taken these Cowboys teams of the last few years deeper into the postseason.

It was a good documentary…they were limited by the NFL…the NFL charged the makers an astronomical amount for actual info that contained nfl films!! RJ Ochoa did a special on his blog about it, it was a good listen! This guy raised his own capital by himself and got zero financial help from Tony…pretty amazing considering everything he over came to produce it!

There is nothing clueless about it. We have Romo's entire career on youtube. There is no secret Staubach or Aikman that we all somehow overlooked. Just a choke artist with plenty of choke artist moments immortalized on youtube.

Like I said. calling the QB who had more 4th quarter game-winning drives in his last 6 years than any other in the entire NFL....a "choke artist"....is beyond clueless.
You literally have it backward.

The fact that you refer to a few youtube clips as your teacher/evidence tells us all what a football imbecile you are. (not you, just your football IQ)

Like I said...it's ok...as many out there are like you.
