Watching the video of a launch is always awe inspiring. This one was no different.

Check it out here

I watched it yesterday. Awesome no hitch launch and seperation.

We visited the Kennedy Space Center often while living in Texas. I always loved going there.

Awesome! I saw that yesterday. Lets keep out fingers crossed for re-entry.

Watching a shuttle launch never ceases to fascinate me. I have never seen one in person, and I believe there is only one left after this one. I think it would be neat to go watch it.

I was thinking about this yesterday. I only live 1 to 2 hours from Cape and would probably be kicking myself in the butt for years to come if I don't make arrangements to go see one of the last two launches. I could probably swing it but last second launch rescheduling, delays and cancellations would be my biggest hindrance to making it happen.

Haha I knew this was coming.

We would drive to FL to KSC to watch launches.

:laugh2:

Wht???? Are they gonna stop sending shuttles to space???

Where do those booster rockets go after seperation? Do the just fall in the ocean?

Yep. They drop into the Atlantic and they retrieve them for reuse.

What is the chance of some ship out in the water getting hit by one of those falling things?!!

The area is cleared of any ships or planes before the launch so it would be highly unlikely.

I've always wanted to see a launch so I guess I need to break down and do it this summer.

Yeah, but don't those things sink after hitting the water?

I bet some fish got jacked up!

:D

I wonder if they have a new style of ship that will be used for these type of missions , or will these missions stop ?
