The Washington Commanders could pull off their goal of shipping off the $100 million man that has already pocketed $32 million – Albert Haynesworth – as the draft gets going tonight.
Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean speculates that something could go down before the Tennessee Titans are on the clock with the 16th pick. It’s been rumored that Haynesworth could be headed back to the team that he came from as the Commanders look to rid themselves of a player who apparently has no interest in adapting to their 3-4 scheme or, you know, spending any time during the offseason working with the new coaches and new teammates.
The Titans are expected to look on the defensive side of the ball with their selection in the first round, but Wyatt notes that getting a trade done for Haynesworth in advance of them selecting could help shape the direction they choose.
Tennessee needs a defensive end but if they are able to get Haynesworth back after a one-year cash grab by him in Washington, it would allow the Titans to consider a cornerback with the pick. Makes sense to us. Stay tuned.
