Injury updates


CB Terence Newman, OLB Greg Ellis and ILB Kevin Burnett did not practice today. WR Terry Glenn did work out for the first time since having his knee scoped Aug. 1, running routes and catching passes.

Wade Phillips said he is getting closer to ruling Ellis out for the opener. He said it's 50/50 on Newman and Burnett. If they don't practice this week, they'll probably be gametime decisions.

"If they're a good player and they're hurt, then they're well enough to play in a game, I'm going to play them," Phillips said when asked about his policy about players who don't practice. "Now, if they're a bad player, I might rule them out."

I believe it was a joke...Wade has a bit of whimsy to him, unlike the biting sarcasm of Parcells.

Cut a bad player and replace them with a worse player.

I agree it was an odd statement. Perhaps Wade should have minimized what he had to say about Newman, Burnett and Ellis.

You must be really good to detect body language, facial expressions, and voice inflection from the written quote...FYI, it should be whimsical, not whimsy in your post.

I would rather take the chance and let Newman rest/heal.. I think Ellis needs to get out there soon, however I do realize it's a 12 month rehab process.
