Here's what the Cowboys offensive coordinator had to say about Bollinger, the Cowboys' No. 3 quarterback behind Tony Romo and Brad Johnson:

"There's a lot of things we like about him. First of all he's a good football player. Physically he's got a good arm, a live arm. He's a good athlete. Quick. I think he has a very good understanding of the game. He's smart. He appreciated the importance of that part of the game. He's been part of winning. He was a very successful college quarterback. In the NFL, he's been around five or six years and had some starts and fared, I though, well in the conditions he played under. He demonstrated a toughness and leadership.

He's a guy at a certain point of his career now where he can really improve because of his approach and ability. He's certainly a long way away from understanding what we do, but he goes about it the right way and you can see he'll pick it up quick."

How long did we sign him for?

actually how does that work for backups? is it normal to sign a long term back up? or are they always like 2 year deals

This endorsement will surely gain Brooks a few extra fans. I still hate the idea of 3 QBs on a roster and always will. If Brooks doesn't work out I will kidnap him and sacrifice him to some crazy deity.

I wonder if the third string QB of any other team has received so much press or criticism from their fanbase.

....well maybe Chris Simms.

Seems like the Garretts like their 'pet projects'.

John Garrett has Martellus Bennett

Jim Garrett had Todd Lowber

And now Jason Garrett has Brooks Bollinger.

He signed a one-year deal for the veteran minimum, plus a $40,000 signing bonus.

We win the Superbowl, Brad Johnson retires, and Bollinger becomes the next Jason Garrett.

The End...

As do I. It would be nice if we could slip him onto the practice squad or something.

And Ms. Garrett has Tootie.

:laugh2: :laugh2:

You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have....oh man am I ashamed of knowing that.:laugh2:

Hopefully Brooks will have it together when we need him. He could maybe be like what Garrett was for us.

Garrett should have just made it nice and simple and said...

"We wanted a younger Brad Johnson so he can back up Romo for the next three or four years and we all hope he never sees the field."
