I tend to not get to wound up about CFL or (used to) AFL or NFLE guys because no matter how much they are hyped it seems like 99% of them never make a difference. Long shots are long shots for a reason, heck even guys like Romo and Austin were at least snapped up right after the draft. Guys like this are available for a reason. Teams are built through the draft and free agency.

Is it me, or did a guy named Will Pettis receive a ridiculous amount of hype a few years ago.

I wonder what ever happened to him.

Outside of "trades" - how else can your team be "built" ? I'd say 99% of rosters are built through free agency and the draft..

This guy was added to our roster via free agency as well?

I was intending on highlighting major fa acquisitions--guys like Davis, Brooking, even Igor. Pro football players that were on other nfl team's rosters making an impact before they left in fa.

Obviously that's not exactly what I said because, any player that is signed who did not have a contract before or whose contract had expired is a free agent. I just meant to say that I don't put much emphasis on project guys from feeder leagues that teams "discover". :doh:

Yeah, that's exactly the kind of guy I'm talking about. Guys like Ricky Ray from a few years ago-A guy that got all kinds of hype then couldn't beat out Quincy Carter to come in off the bench for the Jets.

It's fine to look for bargains, and who knows, maybe you'll find the next Warren Moon. But, for every Doug Flutie there's a hundred guys that get hyped and then disappear into some teams depth chart only to get cut a few years later.
