Romo record tracker

I thought I was going out on a limb when I predicted during training camp that Tony Romo would set Cowboys records for passing yards and TDs this season. Looks like I was setting the bar too low.

Romo is on pace to shatter Danny White's marks of 3,980 yards and 29 TDs set in 1983. If he keeps this up, Romo could break the NFC records in both categories.

Kurt Warner holds both records -- 4,830 yards in 2001 and 41 TDs in 1999. Romo's projected stats: 4,796 yards and 44 TDs.

I just want the Cowboys to win lots of games & at least 1 playoff win. Of course I really want us to win the SB and our 6th Lombardi but Colts & Patriots are tough competition. I do admit I'd go crazy and would thoroughly enjoy if Romo can set the NFL touchdown & passing yard records this year.

I guess you guys haven't relaized that the year the Rams won the SB, is the same year the Warner broke those two NFL records.

who said you had to choose?

If your QB is succesful, then your team will be successful.

your making an argument out of nothing.

its not an argument, just wondering which one you would choose,if you had to choose one.not everyone here wishes to pick an argument with you.

Why choose?

Why make it a choice?

I simply brought up that the last person who broke the record won the SB thay year. Everything shouldn't have to be a choice. You can enjoy breaking records and winning SB.

Drink Moxie. ;)

My request:

Spare the comparisons to Staubach, Warner, Aikman, White etc.... Just let the guy be Tony Romo. That's all I ask.

No one is saying you want to argue with me. This isn't even an argument. its a Q&A session.

We'll have to wait and see on those records. The "hot start" records are the ones Romo is threatening NOW.

Romo has started 14 games so far in his career. Only two QB's have ever accumulated 4,000 yards in their first 15 starts.

Warner 4,218
Bulger 4,022

Against Buffalo, Romo needs only 160 yards to join the 4,000/15 starts club. With a 379-yard effort (it would be his career high) against the Bills, Romo could set the all-time yardage record for the first 15 starts. Not likely, but possible against that defense. The one that's definitely in his reach though, is most yards in his first 16 starts:

Warner (1999) 4,359
Marino (1983-84) 4,284
Bulger (2002-03) 4,262
Romo (2006-7) 3,840 in 14 games

Romo is only 520 yards away from having the best 16-game start (yardage-wise) in the history of the league. And he's got two games to get those 520 yards.

Romo piling up all those stats will mean that our O is very good

that goes a long ways to winning games

that's some very impressive work -- and, to me, a bit more significant than a single-year mark. not why it works out this way, though... 16 games is 16 games. but warner, marino and bulger have turned out to be CONSISTENTLY good, while some single-season wonders have faded away.

i mean... DON MAJKOWSKI, anyone?

"the magic man" had a fairy-tale season for green bay in 1989:

58.9% 4,318 yards 27 TDs 20 INTs

career stats:

93 games 55.4% 12,700 yards 66 TDs 67 INTs

bottom line:

i'd enjoy seeing romo put up some gaudy numbers this year, but i'd be even happier to see him play consistently well for a number of years and rack up the only number that really matters: WINS!!
