Do not double park at Commanders Park
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on April 18, 2010 4:50 PM ET
Anyone that followed the Broncos closely or read Stephon Fatsis' great book A Few Seconds of Panic knows Mike Shanahan likes rules. Lots of rules.
Dan Steinberg of DC Sports Bog has a good breakdown of the changes Shanahan has brought to Washington from running to the huddle standing behind a rope if you aren't on the field to where you park.
Shanahan reportedly told the team he keeps a list of who isn't following certain rules. Like double parking.
"I started thinking to myself, like, did I double park today? I didn't think I double parked," tackle Mike Williams said with a laugh. "I'm dead serious. He asked guys to do the simple things. If he asks you to run off the field, he expects you to run off the field.
"He's just setting a standard, and saying hey guys, this is what I'm talking about, and so this is what we've got to clean up as a team."
Maybe this kind of thing matters; maybe it doesn't. But Williams' reference to cleaning up sounds right because the Commanders were sloppy under Jim Zorn.
That should change in year one AS. (After Shanahan.)
