For years we have posted warning after warning about not posting "guesses" from random wannabe social media influencers, but it continues to happen.

Those people are looking for naive people who will help share and promote their channels and accounts to help them gain likes, followers, etc. while knowing that if/when their guesses are wrong that most people will forget about it.

Why? Because most people rarely unfollow anyone or unlike anyone on the internet, so the goal is to post things controversial or "breaking news" that people cannot resist reading or watching.

We all love rumors and sometimes even wild guesses can be fun to discuss when the factual information is less interesting, but there is a difference between someone saying, "It would be interesting if .." rather than, "My inside sources tell me this is about to happen .."

For example, right up until moments before the Elliott's suspension court ruling there were several social media influencers stating, "HE WON! They are just waiting on the papers to be filed!" only to find out he lost.

What happened was one or two people "guessed", then the rest of the desperate-to-be-someone social media accounts thought "this is my chance" and shared the news hoping to get as many likes and followers as possible before it was announced.

What happened to those people who posted fake news? Some likely gained thousands of followers from it and the others are now promoting random non-sports related products and services because they were used to farm followers in sports with the plan to sell the accounts later to spammers and malware organizations.

There are official news sources all over the internet, many of which have proven track records when it comes to breaking news.

There is absolutely no excuse for anyone falling for random social media people posting wild guesses when there are thousands of official sports writers ready to share valid news and rumors every minute of every day.

If you want to share your guesses and opinions on what will happen, just do it and state them as such! There is nothing wrong with that.

Just don't post guesses/rumors from other random people on the internet!
