Do they have it in them?

The Cowboys are at a crossroads, and these next few weeks we will find out what this team is made of. They have a chance to make a statement in several areas:

Do they have it in them to put the Giants away? Beat the Giants next Sunday and you bury their season alive. If the Giants win and build momentum to end the season like they have in the past, they AND the Packers hold tie breaker advantages for wild card spot.

It's December. Tough stretch with 3 out of 5 games on the road and games against 4 high quality opponents. Do they have it in them to man up and shake this December monkey off their backs?

We have a chance to make a statement and see how they can hang with arguably the best team in the conference right now, the Saints. This game will go a long way in determining how we'll fare when we get into the playoffs.

I love the attitude the defense has been bringing lately. No satisfaction in just getting the job done. They want to completely dominate. I hope the offense can feed off this and create this same mentality on their side of the ball.

I'm excited for these next few weeks. GO COWBOYS!!!!!!!!!!

Until they do it, it's hard to believe they can. This is especially true given how many times we've seen them fail.

Yes.....they have it in them, now they just have to go out and prove it. I dont care WHO they play in this next five games or how good our opponents are , we need to take 4 out of the next 5. There is a huge difference between a 10-6 team, an 11-5 team, and a 12-4 team IMO. Oh sure, your going to have the occasional team that gets hot at the end and wins a Super Bowl with a 10-6 record, but its REALLY not the norm. To me...It goes something like this.........10-6 ... Decent team, most probably a wildcard, more than likely going to be drummed out of the playoffs in their first game. 11-5.....Borderline wildcard/ division winner depending on strength of division. Most likely will get a win in 1st playoff game then be booted from the playoffs by one of the elite teams. 12-4 and above...True Superbowl contender. Homefield advantage. Best chance of winning conference. We need to gear up our passing game, thats for sure.....BUT.......If you want to truly make hay in the playoffs YOU BETTER run the ball with authority and stop the run, play bigtime defense. THATs the formula. Been proven over and over again. Right now Im hopeful, like what Im seeing but NEED to continue to improve.

I think they have it in them! First the giants aren't the giants from the past. I don't think they just flip the switch like that. They look different than they did in the past years. I think if Dallas can come out of december with at least two wins they should be ok. Then win the last game against Philly...who knows what other teams Records are going to look like at the end of the season..GO BIG D!!!!!!

Why they can:

5 new players on a defense that appears to be playoff quality

They are relatively healthy

Romo is better at protecting the football

Playoff quality special teams

Why they can't:

Slop: penalties and poor execution remains the Cowboys #1 problem and there are no signs that this is getting any better.

Against quality defenses the Cowboy's offense not only stalls, it implodes, and they are not in a position where they can lean on their defense which is good, but not that good.

Romo's health. This OL allows far too many sacks/hits on Romo and this team's quick pass execution is very poor. The best quick pass play they've got is the bubble screen and that only works half the time

===================================

I think they will succeed in getting into the playoffs by beating their flawed division rivals, but the offense will have to turn it around if they are to have any hope past that,,,

This team is now full of leaders and guys that preach accountability.

I think its one part maturity, one part already having gone through 3 embarassing seasons, and one part being a very deep and talented team.

It's only hard for YOU to believe they can do it and I bet nobody on this board is suprised at that.....

Sure they have it in them. There's nothing fundamentally deficient about the makeup of this team. It's just a matter of playing hard and getting the right breaks as far as injuries and the bounce of the ball.

One more "Why THEY CAN:

All the talk coming out of the locker room is about team football.

Hey...I will always BELIEVE in them no matter what. Call me a blind homer or whatever, but untill the season is over I choose to keep my rose colored glasses planted firmly on my nose.....even if I have to use my middle finger to push them back up from time to time.

Go Cowboys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:starspin
