Do you do some trading to put yourself in position to get in the Brady Quinn bowl next year? My thought is to trade this years first, unless and AJ Hawk or the like is still there, and get some later picks. Try and get an '07 first round and maybe a second or third this year and then trade both firsts next year for Quinn.

no no no no no no no no. Draft OL, and worry about QB next year.

I doubt Hawk or Cutler last to 18 and I don't want to trade up, we already don't have a 3 round pick.

I'm hoping we take an OL.

My God man...
you guys just wanna give 2 first round picks to any QB these days.
NO WAY!!!!

I would like to see us trade down. The departure of Ellis and Glover has been inevitable since the day we elected to go with a 3-4. We should have traded both players before the season IMO. However, I do believe we could get 2nd or 3rds for one or the other. Interestingly enough, Houston ranked 2nd to last in the league in total defense. They only generated 37 total sacks last year, as a whole. If they wanted to consider going to a 43 rather then sticking with a 34, a trade involving Ellis and Glover might prove to be interesting. Having said that, I like Quinn and would be in favor of trading down to aquire higher picks for next year. Possibly moving Glover and Ellis and drafting OL later. It's a deep draft for Tackles and with multiple picks in the 2nd and 3rd, I'm sure we could aquire good players.

Cutler struggles with decision-making and throwing the deep ball and Quinn is out of our reach.

What's the fascination with Cutler?

Has he ever won anything?

I know he played for Vandy, but the good QBs tend to elevate the level of their teams.

I like him as a developmental prospect......but not a first-rounder....I believe an un-named GM said that anyone that had Cutler in the first was crazy....or at least he said something to that effect.

Cutler did elevate his team before he was QB Vandy was lucky to beat
Div I-AA teams

Well, by the draft value chart, the #1 pick overall is worth 3000 points. Our 18th this year is worth 900. Figure we will finish a little better next year, let's say we have the #20 pick in '07. That spot is valued at 850. Adding the two together, we are still short of the value needed to trae two picks for the #1 overall. So the question is would a QB of Quinn's potential be worth it?

I say yes, but the likelihood of someone taking two mid-round firsts for the #1 overall is low.

I'm not talking about the numerical value of draft picks for trade purposes.
I'm talking about the value of players you can acquire with them.

Very rarely is anyone giving 2 first round picks for.

I like Cutler and would love to get him at 18. But I don't think BP will take him. For some reason he seems to like Tony Romo. Man, if the Jets really offered a 3rd rounder for him I would have snatched their arm off.

No. We have too many needs to give away the farm for one player. Think about what the Giants gave to San Diego to get Eli Manning.

That was just foolishness on Parcells part. We could really use that draft pick.
But then again, Parcells would just mess it up by drafting another TE or special teamer.

And the Giants won the NFC East. I think after another year in Weiss' offense, Brady Quinn could be another Joe Montana.
