Does anyone else get the feeling.....

If there's a T near the top of the Dallas draft board when we pick, I agree. Take the O-lineman. If it's Huff or a monster linebacker to step in as a defensive starter, though, I think you gotta take him (say, Ed Reed or Jerry Porter).

You are making this way more complicated than it needs to be. Columbo is practicing at LT "this year" because we don't have anybody than can step in at LT if Tucker goes down. Bill has said that Pettiti "will not move to LT if an injury occurs there". If Pettiti goes down, Tucker can move over to RT in a pinch, but if Tucker goes down, then Columbo is who will step in which is why he is practicing there.

Now what we do this season does not mean that is what we will do during the offseason or training camp. Columbo may very well be moved over to RT, it just won't happen this season because of our O-line situation.
Its not complicated at all. Every FA that has been brought in after the season has started has signed a 1 year tender. (Brooks, Price, Price, Barrow, Scott, ect.) Except for Columbo. He signs a 2 year deal, only to practice and get ready for next year. Obviously if we signed him to a 2year deal and the others to 1 year deals, we saw something in him than just "a guy". He has been here in up to 5 weeks. If he can't beat out TT now, how in the hell will he compete at LT next TC. If he hasn't shown enough now, then how will he compete with Pettiti at RT next TC? It all goes back to our issues with the OL right now. If TT goes down, were stuck with a guy that isn't ready health wise to fill in or a guy that BP/JJ signed to another stupid deal that can't beat out TT with 5 plus weeks of pracitce. Either way, we're screwed. IMO, it doesn't make sense to give Columbo a 2 year deal, if he can't crack the lineup this year. save that money for 2006 FAs. If he isn't a upgrade over RP/TT in 5 weeks, he damn sure isn't going to be able to compete once the OTAs start. Rob will get stronger and Flo will be back. This all makes for a wasted 1 year on that contract and I don't care if its for only $200,000 - $300,000. Bottom line, Columbo should be playing by now at one of the T positions.

Now we find out that Price is working on the left side too. Stranger by the day!

This is exactly what I'm getting at. If Columbo can't beat out Flo at LT, but he is back to playing ability, then why wouldn't we put Columbo at RT. Right now! Thus speeding up his learning curve at this position. I frankly think Flo is getting too big to play LT, but think he would dominate on the right side.

Because Petiti gives us a better chance to win.

Also I don't think Columbo has/needs to learn anything nor do I think playing on the right side necessarily helps you play on the left side. If anything it could overwhelm or confuse.

Thats nice and all, but I'm not buying it. We have 4 OTs on the roster with only 1 playing RT as of now.

OLine chemistry is hard to build...You cant be change ppl every game
