Does Dak have too much control?

I think one problem with Dak is that he too much control on calling plays. QB's are usually given two plays and they determine which to check to depending on the Defense alignment. It seems that Dak changes a lot of running plays to passes too often when he should just stick to the running play. It's like he overthinks it, or is intent on showing he is a great passing QB, or has an false sense of what his abilities are. Watching Rush, he doesn't do all kind of crazy audible calls and runs the plays relying on the players to execute. Dak needs to do the same thing. He isn't a great QB and needs to rely on others to help him succeed. He is most affective when he utilizes his RB's, runs occasionally to keep the D honest, and uses play action which is more effective when the running game is working.
It's very similar to Romo's faults. He was more effective later in his career when he stopped slinging the ball all the time and relied more on the running game and passed less often.

Interesting thought. I always thought Romo did too much at the line of scrimmage. I am not sure this is a problem, but would not rule it out.

Let’s face it, Dak’s no Peyton Manning.

Yes, and on the surface I want to agree with this thread and move on, but it's tough to say for sure. Dak at his best for long period of time was early on in his career when everything was simplified for him. His rookie year it was a lot of empty backfields to create easier reads, run first to set up play action, etc. On the other hand though Dak has shown stints of good to great football in his current form. This time last year we were talking about Dak as a possible MVP candidate. Problem there is that with Dak playing some weeks at great highs we also see the lows that come with that.

Is that due to the amount of control he has been given? Is it him being banged up off and on the last few years? Does he just not come through in the bigger games and moments? Just become too gun shy? Kellen Moore trying to do too much? We could have had the talent around him debate, but the last few weeks we are seeing that this offense has enough talent to move the football.

The more that has been pushed on the shoulders of Dak it's undebatable that the consistent results have not been there. The why behind the inconsistent results are much up for debate however.

I think the organization as a whole hustles backwards trying to prove the player is worthy of the contract already given, instead of just playing winning football. We saw the same with Romo.
