Does Darren McFadden have character issues?

Everyone expects these guys to be perfect saints, it is really getting old. OMG XXX got a speeding ticket, does he have character issues?!!?! Save it for the guys who are getting in trouble all the time.

it's really annoying

I don't care how strong you are ala Mcfadden or Ken Hamlin, you do NOT get into a fight in a club... The dudes that you just roughed up for bumping into you? Yeah, they are going to be waiting for you with two other dudes until you leave the club, all night if they need to be, and then they will beat you senseless. Never get into a fight at a club. You could get killed.

Sound advice, I suppose. But it has nothing to do at all with what happened to McFadden.

Oh? What was he doing there at that time of night (morning) at a club with that reputation?

According to a police report, McFadden was involved in a disturbance at 4:20 a.m. Saturday at Palace the Club, a private club in Little Rock. . . . . The club where McFadden was found was shut down in December of 2004 when a judge ordered it closed. Two people were killed there in 2004, and police responded to over 30 crimes or other incidents at the club that year.

He wasn't exactly "hanging out at a bar". That street in LR is a big hangout. There's a car wash, convenience store, strip mall, and other businesses... as well as a bar. It's where everyone hangs out on the weekends. Someone tried to steal his cousin's car, Darren dragged the guy out of the car, a fight broke out, he was wearing flip flops, he busted up his toe and that was it.

Darren is a GREAT kid. He doesn't even go out anymore. He's completely focussed on his football and his school. I'm sure this will get brought up 100 more times before he gets drafted but Darren McFadden has ZERO character issues.

The place he was hanging out at is an incident waiting to happen (there are fights, etc., there all the time). Being there and at the time he was there were bad choices on his part.

That being said, McFadden seemed truly remorseful about the choices he made that night and has done nothing to indicate that it will ever be more than an isolated incident. Everything I've read and heard indicate that he is a good kid that simply was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I now see that Angus has covered these points. But again, I would not worry about McFadden's character based on this one incident.

I am sure he is remorseful...remoseful that he is in trouble for this incident, Just as Pacman is remorseful that he punched a stripper in the face.

Look, deep down I think these guys are actually decent human beings; I just think that people are sometimes victims of their circumstances and the people around them. That being said, people can change; Mcfadden doesn't have to fight or hang around thugs; one look at him and I am sure that would be enough deterrant to want to step up to him and see what's real. Edgerrin James grew up in a terrible neightborhood and he was able to keep his "nose clean" and out of trouble, even with his thug look he is able to maintain a happy medium between how he wants to be portayed and who he really is... These guys are all about image, but guys like Edge are able to keep up the facade and still stay clean; when was the last time you saw Edge in trouble with the law? I don't care what these guys do in their private lives IMO, just don't get in trouble and mess with my fav team.

While that is pretty much what happened to Ken Hamlin, it's not even CLOSE to what happened to McFadden. You need to get your facts straight before you lump those two guys together.

McFadden was hanging out with his friends at the local hangout. Yes, there's a history of fights there as there is at most hangouts in poor parts of town. He's learned his lesson and doesn't put himself in those types of situations anymore. But he was not "starting fights with thugs at a bar" like everyone likes to encapsulate it.

So now he's PacMan Jones. Hilarious!!! It amazes me how some of the posters here even figure out how to log on to a computer. Must have had help...

And by the way, he's not in trouble. He was never in trouble. No charges were filed because he didn't break any laws. The final police report determined he was stepping in to stop a crime. But I guess to some that's the same as a guy like PacMan committing 11 felonies.

So you think every person who wants to play in the NFL should not be allowed out after 2AM?

I don't think it's the same. After McFadden got hurt in this fight, there were several articles that came out detailing how upset he was with himself for being at that place and putting himself in a bad situation.

His actions in returning from that injury and his words for being involved did not seem like "I'm sorry I got caught" words. Although he might not have been sincere (I don't know that), he seemed to generally understand his mistake and desire to correct it and not put himself in that kind of situation again.

With people like Pacman, it's obvious that any remorse they show is only lip service because of their actions. So far, every indication is that McFadden meant what he said.
