Does Jaydon Blue seriously have a "fumbling problem"?

I would like to see him carry the ball in a manner that allows him to be secure with the football. I'm sure he's aware that it's up to him to use caution, since his reputation is obviously at stake. Many RBs have turned their fortunes around with their fumbling problems. Tony Dorsett certainly was one. It's surely possible to do so. Carrying the football "high and tight" is the key to success. I think he knows it.

Bhayshul Tuten had a fumbling problem in college too. He was drafted a round before Blue because he ran a 4.32 40 at the combine. Sometimes fumbling issues can be fixed, sometimes not. For those that cannot be fixed they don't last long in the NFL.

Blue had an issue in college. If Blue has big success early then fumbles he is likely still going to continue getting chances but if he fumbles before he begins breaking big runs then coaches will bench him. Very little room for error as a rookie.

In the competitive world of the NFL they will focus on exploiting weakness. If you have a reputation it stays with you until you prove otherwise.

Blue is going to see his fair share of peanut punches until he shows that he can hurt defenders who focus on punching out the ball and not tackling.

That was one of the biggest knocks in his scouting report, so I’d say, yeah.

It will only get harder in the NFL where there’s even more focus on punching the ball and stripping at the point of contact
Now there are some rough strong dudes ripping at that ball. Especially with fumble being mentioned as an issue.

Just because the team had the same problem as a whole doesn't mean Blue doesn't have the same, specific problem. He certainly does. He was part of the team.

But it's fixable. I still expect him to be a WR 50 percent of the time. Just my hunch.

Texas running back Jaydon Blue had a total of seven fumbles during his three collegiate seasons. In 2024 alone, he fumbled the ball five times, according to CBS Sports. This included two fumbles in the first half of the game against Mississippi State, which led to him being benched. Blue definitely has a fumbling problem. Hopefully, Dallas running back coach has been working with him on the fumbling.

His big issue was field awareness and holding it loose when he is running in the open field. That's when sometimes DBs could get behind him and punch the ball loose.

....something to talk about, when there's nothing to talk about.

Yea, he fumbles on occasion but I think it is for lack of field awareness. When he breaks away, I see that loaf of bread. It can be fixed and it will have to be addressed when elite defenders are punching at the ball.

I'm optimistic that Blue can at least minimize the fumble issue, but I don't love the rational in the video. Regardless of when the fumbled occurred he still had 5 in just 176 touches in 2024. That's 1 every 35 touches....Its something to be concerned about.

I also don't buy the 'well everyone at Texas fumbled so its probably not a big deal' argument. Just because the Cowboys run defense is bad overall it doesnt mean that Mazi Smith gets a pass for poor play. Just a bizarre argument.
