Dolphins need a QB2

I like your thinking

I mean, it's an opportunity. If we don't someone else will try to trade. So, why not dangle Howell out there? He's actually probably about as good as their starter anyway. Chances are, this is an opportunity to get some draft capital back.

Well, the Dolphins just traded for a QB. But I don't consider him a QB 2:

"The Dolphins’ search for a new backup quarterback will head to a familiar place. A Packers-imported regime will add one of Green Bay’s backups, with ESPN’s Adam Schefter reporting Kyle McCord is headed to Miami via trade.

Green Bay will add a 2028 sixth-round pick in this deal, per Schefter. The Dolphins traded Quinn Ewers on Saturday and cut backup options Cam Miller and Mark Gronowski today. The Packers have Tyrod Taylor set as Jordan Love‘s top backup, putting the well-traveled McCord on the move once again."

I'm a Syracuse grad. Saw McCord in Eagles' training camp in 2025. I'm rooting for him. Don't think he's an NFL QB, not even a back-up.

All the more reason that I think we should try to see what we can get back for Howell with them. I think Howell would be an upgrade over McCord. I think Howell might actually be able to push for a starter job. And we could use another draft pick or two. So, why not see what we can get for Howell with the Dolphins situation

That's fine. But I think that, more than any other team in the NFL, the Dolphins are in tank mode. Perhaps, like the McCord trade, they'd be more willing to give up 2028 draft capital.

Which wouldn't be the worst thing as well. Still, it's an option open to Jerry if they want it.

Absolutely. Today has become Backup QB Roulette, or, more accurately, 'Musical Backups'. Howell could end up in lots of places.

Exactly, and this is the time to shop him and others on the bubble to see if we can get draft capital back.

The thing about the Dolphins is they are bottoming out the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. 26 holds nothing for them but last place AFCE they are not likely to start throwing draft picks away for a Sam Howell . They will try to trade players away to collect draft picks . They are Re building . You don’t Re build with Sam Howells .

Pitt or Cleveland will cut a QB and the Fins will simply grab one. No need to trade.

I was hoping Quinn Ewers would have some success there.
