“We just turned in the script and we’re going to find some money to make this thing,” Cheadle told The Hollywood Reporter at a party to celebrate the 40th anniversary of *****es Brew, Davis’ game-changing improvisational double album. “Now is a good time, 10 years ago would have been a good time, and 10 years from now it will still be a good time to see a dynamic, entertaining movie that’s wall-to-wall Miles Davis where the music will hopefully spark some desire to know more about the man.”

The soundtrack could be great too if done right.

Don't know how I missed this! Much agreement here. Cheadle has never had a bad performance in anything of his I have seen. Definitely a major plus. And I have been fully initiated into the Cult of Miles. One of the most innovative jazz guys ever. He was never content to just do his last big thing forever.

I got a chance to see him live, back in 1983, so in one of his very electric phases.

Worked at a small project studio, for a guy who loved Miles as well, and in the downtimes, we'd often fire up the studio rig with various of his recordings, played full bore. It was great!

met this man in Carmel.

Super duper awesome guy if you ask me. Very humble and friendly. Nowadays you expect these guys to have big egos, but the opposite must be said for Cheadle
