Donald Young - Tennis Unseeded/Unranked beating ranked players

Great young, rising star in the tennis world. He needs to get better coaching though, IMO. He seems to lack situational awareness - something that a well seasoned coach could help him with. His physical game is developing well, but his mental game needs some help.

Actually, I just read that he was a up and comer 6-7 years ago. Pro since 14-15 years old and he blew chunks but not he has it together....22 years old now.

Most players at age 15-16 lack the strength and endurance to compete at the men levels. That is basically a Highschooler in football playing an NFL guy of course he will blow chunks

Yes; I do see you said most players, but this info fits nicely with the subject.

For males, both Borris Becker and Dennis Ralston won Wimbledon at the age of 17. For Females, Charlotte Dod won it at 15 years. Though Dod won it after only four years of Womens singles existing at Wimbledon. (1887) So, the greatest players in the world may not have been attending Wimbledon at the time.

That is misleading information... there are several thousand professional tennis players in the world. Lots of teens can get good enough to be declared "professional", but to rise through the ranks is a different story. Donald became a pro at 15, but it took him 2.5 years to crack the top 500 rankings. It took another 1.5 years to break into the top 100, though he didnt stay there long. He hovered in the 100-140 range for a couple of years, but now his game is improving & he is playing with more confidence. He is still young (22) and is getting better - his game is getting more recognition. All good stuff. I hope the best for him.

Only got to watch the first set of his match vs. Chela. I like the kid, and I hope he keeps this mojo going. Watching him I didn't notice that he has a go-to weapon, but I also didn't notice any glaring weaknesses. He was hitting his spots, which is probably the key for him.
