I've seen some mocks / interest in us drafting a LBr in round 1 but don't forget about recent draft pick Jabril Cox. Many had him slated as a top 50ish prospect last year and the dude fits the modern day LBr mold having plus speed and +coverage ability. I love him as a WILL LBr for us that can play free and stay on field on 3rd down if Parsons stays our MLB in base downs which would drop the need for LBr to depth.

IMO a healthy Cox makes the need for us moreso depth at DT and S.

Jabril hasn't done anything. To bypass a good LB because of a inexperienced, injured rookie LB isn't the move. Cowboys need to draft a LB to start.

Lber in round 1 makes some sense. What confuses me recently this week is how many mocks I have seen giving us a CB. Yes someone needs to start opposite Diggs, but not sure I would use #1 pick on it.

Neal & LVE may not be back. Parsons is better rushing on the edge. Cox has played like 2 games.

If Lloyd or Dean drop to 24 we should really consider taking them.

That means we've taken 4 LB's in the first 2 rounds within the last decade, that's pretty poor to me.. I would not want to waste another pick on LB when we can draft a OC/OG to fit for Dak and possibly a future QB once his contract is up.

In the first as of right now may seem rich, but depending on how the draft goes I wouldn't be opposed. Brendan Smith + Parsons + Cox is speed for days at LB with talent.

I hope they take another LB in day 2/ early 3 though at the very least.

We know Parsons can play anything including 1T lol, so having the ability to possibly have Parsons on the edge a handful of snaps a game with 2 competent "traditional" LBs would be ideal. Especially since we may be losing our hybrid SS/LBs in FA.

Not how I see it . You look at the snap count
Parsons - 904
LVE - 663
Neale - 580

And this with Kearse playing a lot of linebacker as well. I think Cox is a good option for that no.3 LB and considering how much Parsons is used on the edge that role is going to be pretty significant IMO.

Ya, LB is definitely a need. I rarely value the position in the draft, but this is a year I wouldnt blink on a guy in the 1st

Neither has any draft prospect…

100%…but Cox was hurt most of the year. I could see us resigning one of the S/LBr hybrids + Cox gives us 3 dudes.

I’m def still looking to add depth but more so in the mid rounds.

Every year we go into this offseason lamenting how we lack depth at so many positions. Hahaha.

LB is a need for sure but to me, if you arent going to fix the DT spot (and maybe even DE) and fix the OL, it really won't matter what you do at LB. And no, it's unlikely that you find a LB as unique as Parsons.

So unless its a clear BPA scenario, I am trying to use my premium picks to fix the DL and OL.

I agree 100%…

Im not taking a 1st round LBr unless it is a blue chip talent like Parsons and there isn’t one this year. Dean and Lloyd are fun but they’d be more fall back plans IMO.

I'm more confident than I should be in Jabril, but agree with Dan that a 3rd LB is a big need if we want to keep moving Parsons around.

That seems like an ideal spot for a vet FA. Compared to a mid round rookie, you're probably not getting a difference maker either way, but the vet will be ready to play faster. I think say spending $5M on a journeyman vs drafting a 3rd or 4th rounder would be resources well spent.

are you thinking LB bigger need than LG? wondering if anyone has opinion on the drop-off between the two in the first two rounds i.e. likelihood of a stud LB in rd 1 vs OG and same for rd 2. I don't want a repeat of CWILL in rd 2, rather get a young stud on the line as we just drafted a swiss army knife on defense

i haven't.
he's a reason to be excited going forward.
him and parsons...diggs and joseph.
some good stuff there to like.

I think this is what I was trying to say…I agree it’s still a need but I think this team has big plans for Cox to get a lot of snaps moving forward.

Also like the idea of getting a solid Hitch type vet in FA if doable.

Oh you better believe they will be looking for linebackers. If Dean falls to us you take him.
