I said..."Yep, from Florida to Spain in 10 minutes. So much for you are now free to move about the cabin."

Even though we take it for granted now, I am someone that is still amazed at the fact that airplanes can fly.

You can imagine how I feel when I watch the Space Shuttle take off !!

This is why I will never solve world hunger. The topic of the shuttle is brought up and the only thing I'm thinking about is did any of the astronauts ever achieve the EXTRA mile high club?

BTW, the great thing about living on sunny Florida's east coast is ya get front row seats at every shuttle launch!

The other day, heard some radio yaps talking about how they might discontinue the shuttle program because of its cost issues and no apparent benefits. The shuttle launches might not boost the stock market but we have truly failed as a species if we cut off our only connection to the next great unexplored vastness that may answer the great question of WHY?

Sniff, sniff, okay, too much "Gene Rodenberry optimism" for one day... Go Cowboys!

Lived in Melbourne Fl back in the mid 80's, Played a bball game on Merritt Island one night when the shuttle launched the game was stopped in the second half so we could step outside and watch. It was amazing, unfortunantly I was at school the day Challanger blew up we where in science class and our teacher took us out to the parking lot to watch and poof it was gone. I can still see the SRB's flying wildly around like unguided missles. no one knew what happened heck we where thinking it may have been shot down. Russian subs where always down near the coast. anyway if you do get the chance to see one go watch the night launch it's awesome.....

The company I work for as an apartment community in Melbourne and I'm friends with the manager. Maybe the next time I'll try to remember to go down there.

They have sent a married couple of astronauts up. And the "experiment" was part of the mission.

No word on the findings though.
