Doomsday Preppers

one has to remember that if hollywood is doing it there are these things to note:

You will only see the most extreme examples

you will only see those that want to be seen

and it will be slanted to whatever agenda the producer had

Has anyone else been watching this new series?

It's been on in the background today. Every once in awhile I'll watch it for a couple of minutes.

My thing is if we had a major disastor like they're planning for, would I really want to live in the aftermath anyway?

Heck yeah man. I would then have a shot at king of the world!

My thing as well. I'd be happy to shuffle off and not have to live without amenities like clean water and penicillin.

there is a difference between major disaster and the Apocalypse.

If that happens the only thing to do is put your head between your legs and kiss your butt goodbye.

IF for example in late 2008 the banking system had collapsed, things would have been ugly for at least a year or two.

Money would have been useless. even gold- you can't eat it or drink it.

That is about the maximum anyone should consider preparing for.

If the HN1 virus would go airborne and wipe out 80% of the earth's population I agree who wants to live after that?

The Nuclear Winter, etc was over hyped. Even Sagan admitted that before he croaked. But a full scale exchange would not be something you wanted to live through.

It would separate out society in a hurry. Those with the brawn, and those with the brains, survive.

Who needs penicillin when you have a fist full of garlic?

jk, bob.

Looks like it's on Nat Geo.

Don't have that channel.

Doesn't look to be on Hulu either.

I dunno. Few less idiots running around and everything else as normal as can be.

Where do I sign up?

So, just started the first episode.

How does a person convince their spouse to start prepping for end times?

Seriously, this guy turned his pool into a self-sufficient ecosystem. How do you go about convincing someone to join in?

I need to know how because I really think I could start a cult with those sort of skills.

Great find by the way. This quote is just hilarious.

"We have no other interest or purpose in life, except for preparing for some armageddon".

:laugh2: Me too. Sounds like Nirvana.

I'm in the minority I think, but one of the best things for this planet would be for a good plague to come through and knock out about half the population.

This lady bought 4 quarters for $20!

Haha

She's prepping for hyperinflation and is looking for alternative forms of currency, collecting his 90% silver quarters.

Hahaha

She has food delivered at night to say under the radar but SHE's ON THIS SHOW!!!

These people are great. I haven't laughed this hard in a long time.

The problem with that is it would basically eradicate everyone from certain parts of the earth and no one from other parts.

If you're looking for half the population to disappear, what good would it do you if 90% of that loss came in areas that were outside of the US?

The only thingt special I'm doing is waiting till the 23rd to do my Christmas shopping.

Well lots of people would just move to those areas for economic reasons...or all of the resources that go into supporting those areas could be redirected to benefiting local regions.

I think though, that plague would ravage the US. Areas with high population density - NY, LA, Chicago, etc. - would be hit hard while less dense areas like the midwest would be impacted less. Between that and tourism/travel, which could easily bring any disease or whatever to the States from an outside country, I can't see a world-wide plague not coming to the US.

By the way, the original documentary of the same name and many of the episodes are posted on Youtube right now for anyone interested.

This guy converted a truck to run off of fire wood!

That's just awesome.

He can hook it up to a generator power his "compound" with wood.

Meanwhile, his partner might just be crazy.

Trip wires in the woods, mandatory special arms training for all the compound members.

If I had to pick a guy to go off and shoot up a building, this is the type of guy I would pick.

Not that it wouldn't get here but that the US could deal with it to a greater extent.
