Matt, Chicago: Hey Mosley!! If Duke Robinson, Max Unger, William Moore, Larry English and Brian Robiskie are on the clock at #51; who do you take if your JJ? Thanks!

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (10:07 AM ET ) I'd have to go with Robiskie -- although I'm not sure he's there. He doesn't look like a No. 1, but he could be an excellent No. 2. Some people have said his best-case scenario is becoming a Boldin-type player. He's not as thick and tough as Boldin, though. He does have excellent hands. And I had one scout tell me he's a big posssession guy with some decent speed. A lot of teams could use a guy like this. I think he'd compete for the No. 2 job in Dallas immediately.

Tyler (Sacramento, CA):
I've seen a couple reports and mock drafts that say the Cowboys might be looking at Rice TE James Casey. That'd be crazy right? We're already stacked at TE and we have a decent FB in Cricket. Please tell me Dallas goes either WR or DB.

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (10:23 AM ET ) One of those was a Beast report. I think the Cowboys are hoping Casey falls a little bit. I don't think they'll take him at No. 51 but they may move back several spots and try to get him. Very versatile. Can return punts, play QB in the Wildcat, play fullback, tight end and deep snap. Seriously! So I wouldn't completely dismiss this thing. I also think the Dolphins like the kid a lot.

Scot : Trying to get this question through - Eagles and Cowboys rumored to be looking at Pat White. As a Giants fan and WVU grad this would kill me. Where does he land in your opinion and what round?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (10:33 AM ET ) I don't think the Cowboys will take him -- unless he slips a LONG way. And it's not like the Eagles are going to the Wildcat. I don't think Andy Reid wants some sort of Slash type player. So I wouldn't worry about either of those teams.

Jordan (Austin, TX): Do you know how the cowboys feel about Duke Robinson, I personally would love to have him as an upgrade over Kyle Kosier....actually have you heard about any beast teams being interested in him?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (10:44 AM ET ) They're VERY familiar with this kid -- as well as the enormous OT Loadholt. So yes, those are definite possibilities in that second round.

Karber (Amarillo, TX):
Jerry is keeping mum on the Cowboys' draft as usual. After being infuriated with his pick of Demarcus Ware, I now trust Jerry with our team's drafts, haha. So, what do you think he will do about WR in the draft?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (10:51 AM ET ) Karber, I answer all questions from Amarillo. Have relatives there. Cowboys love Brian Robiskie. I think you have to move up to about No. 35 to get him. That means the Cows would have to work a trade with the Rams. You heard it hear first.

Bubba (Fort Collins Co): If not Robiskie what reciever might be available to us at 51, would Harvin still be on the board for Dallas or would we be looking at other options?

sn2.gif
Matt Mosley: (10:56 AM ET ) I don't think Harvin will drop that far. And I don't think the Cowboys would take him if he did.

Is Robiskie that much better than Iglesias? Robiskie is a little taller (same weight, though) and quicker, but I see both guys as similar move-the-chains guys, not gamebreakers.

I don't like trading up unless the guy you're going for is clearly far superior to other players you can get without giving up picks.

Agree.

I hope Dallas exercises some patience ... a first-round talent could possibly drop that far.

Somehow, I dont see Jerry being patient.

If Dallas trades up for Robiskie that would be a dumb move in my opinion. Do we need WR yes, is it a huge need no. Just see what falls to you and move from there this isn't a very good draft anyway, don't reach.

I wonder if Ellis and #51 would be enticing enough for the Rams?

Does anyone think Crayton could be in play on draft day?

And if he were, what kind of trade value do you guys think he would have?

I prefer Iglesias for the Cowboys, he can at least upgrade the slot. Robiskie is going to be the #2? Then where is the speed on the outside? 2 big possession guys does not make sense.

I know everyone loves the coaches son, and he is solid as a rock, but I don't see the need, not for his skill set. Love his intangibles tho, just not his upside, or lack of.

Thats a possibility, I've been thinking Ellis would definitely be moved as part of a deal to move up. I was thinking Cinci because of the Zimmer connection.

I could see Crayton being of interest to a number of teams (including the Rams, Bengals and maybe even the Browns at teh top of the 2nd) but if they trade him , they have GOT to be right about the WR they take to replace him. Nicks to me is the guy that makes the most sense if they are going to move up to the top of the 2nd.

Stash,

Let's say we do package Ellis and pick 51 to move up for Robiskie.

How do you plan on replacing Ellis' production and experience?

I really dislike Ellis' whining, but we don't really have a 3rd OLB at this stage. And even Spencer is a bit of an unknown.

I'd suggest drafting an OLB this year, to replace Ellis next year - unless we're going to get someone in FA who we know we can depend upon.

I agree. I think the battle for number 2 is between Austin and Crayton anyway this year. But I'd be happy with Iglesias in the 3rd.

I think it's going to cost too much to move from 51 to around 30-35, unless we also package a decent player with it.

If we get a WR in the 2nd than ya I think he gets moved. I don't see him having alot of value but he'd be expendable if we selected Nick or Robiskie.

I have a man crush on Robiskie since the combine where he looked awesome to me but there is zero way I'd go to 35 for him unless that was some Carpenter plus 51 dreck that was just a free move up.

Crayton might make sense.
Ellis doesn't unless the are moving up for a pass rusher.

Again not sure how many times this needs to be stated but Dallas is a team that goes as it pass rush goes on defense and we won't give up Ellis without at least a warm pass rush body there. And you simply can not expect to get that guy at 69.

I'd be quite fine with moving up from 51 plus Ellis or Connor Barwin though.
He's a perfect edge specimen who would be fine as a nickel player that had no real job except to pass rush as a rookie.

If Barwin isn't there, then take Johnson. His intangibles suck, but as a pass rush specialist he would be very effective.

Barwin actually put up better combine numbers than Johnson. He had a higher vert and faster 40. Barwin was faster in the 10 yard split, the shuttle and the cone drills. He is more agile and just a better athlete imho.

Plus Johnson has lots of bad tape as a player. That scares me.

Barwin has been productive but is raw. Still 11 sacks and 3 blocked kicks last year is impressive.

All that said I'd gladly take Johnson as a fall back player if Barwin were gone.

No doubt Barwin is the better choice, high motor, athleticism & production. Johnson does not fit my intangibles requirement but I've watched him and see him do things that make you go "wow". He just does not have that "want to", that Barwin has in spades.

I actually like Barwin better than the "proven" guys like Sintim, Maybin, Ayers or Brown too. Especially as a pass rush specialist.

What about English?

English is too good to fall out of the 1st. He's in the top 3 pass rushers in this class. If he falls, he is a no brainer.

The funny thing is if the Cowboys were so high on possession guys like Nicks and Robiskie, they should not have traded for Roy Williams.

Either Nicks, Robiskie or Iglesias, would have been perfect complements to Terrell Owens. Plus the Cowboys would have another 3rd. Makes little sense, especially if the scouts were doing their homework. Everyone and their mother knew that this draft was going to be deep at the WR class, the Cowboys scouts should have known this for sure.
