After messing around with a lot of the simulators - this one has the comp picks and typically is more realistic than some of the others....however you occasionally get that dream draft situation. If this somehow was to occur, the defense should be set for years to come:

1st. Caleb Farley - CB VTech
-Pitts, Slater on the board as well - lock down CB (just stay healthy)

2nd. Davioyon Nixon - DT Iowa
-3T - great burst, get after the QB type of DT. Best way to create havoc - up the middle.

3rd. Richie Grant - S - UCF
-He is rising so this might be a stretch - Ideal FS for years to come. Would fit perfect in Dallas.
Deonte Brown - G from Bama was on board so, would have been him if Grant gone.

3rd. Tyler Shelvin - DT LSU
-1T - run stuffing DT matched with Nixon and we are ready to roll. I want him really bad in this draft. Might even look at him with first 3rd depending on how board falls.

4th. Kenneth Gainwell - RB Memphis
-Can be primary back after Zeke and excels in passing game. Would need to fill out more to be featured back..

4th. Rashad Weaver - DE Pitt
6'4 270 DE - not going to wow but good first step. Missed 2019 with injury. Had 8 sacks and 3 forced fumbles last year.

5th. Olaijah Griffin - CB USC
Was highly recruited out of HS - 5 star athlete. 6ft 180lb - likely outside CB. Some minor injury issues but will go after the ball and willing to tackle.

6th. Jaylon Moore - G/OT - West Mich
6'4 315 - developmental Oline. 2nd team all Mid American last two years.

6th. Joshua Kaindoh - DE - FSU
Physical freak at 6'7 250 - gonna need to develop as a pass rusher but the tools are there.

7th. Marco Wilson - CB - Florida
6ft 195 - can play inside at slot - we are gonna need more CB given the FA that are leaving. He has the athletic ability but needs to play more physical at next level.

Love top 4, then it falls off a cliff for me! We have a huge need at linebacker.

I'll take that all day every day.

I would like to see a LB though even if its late. If not it'll be a gaping hole this time next year.

I'm in the boat that if the Dline is vastly improved so will the LB play.
I think we need both especially with decisions coming up with Jaylon and Lve's 5th yr option. We also need another starter moving back to a 4-3.

What makes this a HR is having more than addressed the DT situation with early, capable players....

Also Farley falling to 10....will go higher IMO.

And mostly Grant in the 3rd. I wouldn't find out about this pick on time because I'd have broken my TV when they passed on him in the 2nd.

Thats desperately needed young talent in the right spots on defense.

No LB is the nitpick....plus the rest of them likely won't see the field in 2021.

But four guys that can help the defense immediately....I'll more than take this.

Yes, we need LBs no matter what.

Since capable contributors can be had in rounds 3-5, its not a place you want to be with UFA either.

Still though....I'd sign for this draft all day

I honestly think they may address this position with F/A signing and mid-low round pick. Just remembering how Stephen Jones is quick to point out how the position has more injuries than others.

I tend to agree. Now this assumes they don't do something like cut Smith, which I guess is a possibility if Quinn wants a total rehab of the D. But I think they will let Quinn see what he can do with Smith and LVE and add maybe a veteran or two in FA.

I believe we are going to see a top 100 pick at the position, most likely with one of our 3rd rounders along with a starting caliber fa signed. There just is way too many questions with the positional group:

-What to do about Jaylon? I believe they see if Quinn can reach him, if not, gone after the season.
-Can Lve stay healthy and return to form? Next year will determine if his option gets picked up.
-Will Sean Lee retire? If so, team needs another starter to replace him.
-Pretty much undrafted fa depth or special teamers behind the shaky starters, especially with both Lve/Lee lack of durability

Players like Browning, Cox, Surratt, McGrone would be excellent finds as future starters at the position, in which they will see a lot of game action as rookies.

I'll take it.
Grant is being mentioned in the first round now unfortunately.

If we take a RB I would hope it would be one of the Tar Heel RBs

Honestly, I'm not sure the FO and/or coaches have anywhere near the problem with Jaylon Smith as fans. For example, many fans feel his performance is so bad, they want him replaced as cut, off the team. Interestingly he led all defensive players in snaps for the year. So if coaches thought he was as bad as fans seem to think, I'm guessing they would have benched him at least but that didn't happen. Meaning a huge gap between what fans are seeing and coaches based on snap counts/playing time. Bottom line, I don't think THEY have a question of what to do about Jaylon...he's a 2021 starter, nothing to indicate otherwise.

BTW....I think they have to make a decision on LVE option this year ( May or June I think )
