Draft watching party at Texas Stadium 1991

Jerry Jones... way back in the day hosted free draft-watching parties in the parking lot around Texas stadium. Would set up this massive white tent with tables and chairs and of course bars. Also, TV's everywhere to watch the draft live. It was packed and on top of it... many current players then showed up. Not sure if they had to show up contractually or just wanted to come for free drinks. Me and my friend sat at a table and Mark Tuinei, his gorgeous wife and Danny Noonan joined us. No cell phones back then so no pics. ******! These guy's were so gracious and kind. We talked about what they felt the team needed to draft. Anyway, I believe we drafted Russell Maryland that year. And now for the rest of the story... my friend elbowed me to say, "Hey. That's Emmitt over there". He was standing all by himself, after a really nondescript rookie season and no one recognized him. True story.

I remember stuff similar to that with the Texas Rangers and other pro franchises. With the money involved nowadays, the security concerns, the new generation will probably never get to experience much of that. Sad.
