Drew Brees and Brian Schottenheimer go way back — before Brees became the legendary New Orleans Saints quarterback and Schottenheimer was tabbed to become the Dallas Cowboys’ missing piece from Super Bowl contention, Schottenheimer was Brees’ quarterbacks coach on the then-San Diego Chargers.

Obviously a lot has changed over the decades since. Brees is happily retired and waiting on his well-earned selection for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and Schottenheimer is getting the Cowboys passing game up to speed as their new offensive coordinator. One major addition in Dallas he’s working with this summer is former Saints first-round draft pick Brandin Cooks.

I think he will be a tremendous addition for our offense ..opposing teams don't fear Gallup ...and we did not really have a WR that can flat out jet-fly past CBs in a blink without
double moving and getting CBs out of position first.

- Cook can flat out out run double coverage, he is one of the premiere speed WRs in the NFL. And this is NOT John Ross only str8 line ahead and an injury prone wuz and bust.
He is is a flat player with skins on the walls. ..consecutive 1000 seasons. and an accomplished route runner.

- And Brandin will be the starting 2nd WR on this team, .. not Gallup, who I really am luke warm on ... though Michael G has a physical battle for ball style of play, Gallup is a poor route runner who causes a lot of INT turnovers for Dak. .. short cuts and sloppy ups a lot of busted routes.

- We will need an over the top of vertical speed WR like Brandin ... who also has been durable most of his career.
besides the vertical threat, expect to see a good deal of Jet Sweeps, ...shallow crossing routes ...and curls and slants .. they want to get Cooks going with a head of steam
with that incredible burst and acceleration. ..

I still cannot believe we were able to acquire the speedy Cooks for just a late round draft pick ..and even got the Texans to eat some of that contract as well.

At mid season of last year, there was a very close deal for the trade of Cooks, for what would have been a reported 2nd round pick but apparently there was some
non reachable agreement for some desired moving parts on Cooks contract.

With the Cooks trade ..and Pollard as a new featured, starting core player (under new coaching scheme and direction) Our Tex-Coast offense is so scary Explosive to have to
deal with to opposing teams !!

I've yet to read any snarky "Yeah he's fast, but" comments about the guy. About the only thing negative I've seen is how many different teams he's been on. I'll take it as a positive that he's had 1000 yard seasons with everybody.

Exactly, and I think the fact he's had the success with as many teams as he has had is a good sign. I think he will be an excellent weapon for Dak.

And factor in our defence, and it should be fantastic. Especially if we can improve at kicker.

- Gilmore is gonna be such a X factor for this defense... just the way Cooks will be a major impact on the offense ... so will CB Gilmore will be a major impact on the
Defense - he will make plays.. jump plays for INTs and will solidfy the coverages in the No.2 CB role that Anthony Brown was just crippling us on that side ...

- Hankins and Mazzi could be a Snack/Hankins duo for us once Smith get adjusted to the NFL trenches- . Immovable interior forces.
Teams may have to resort to misdirection plays and RB screens because they won't be able to generate the traps and openings off basic running the ball up the gut.
* That's where our Edge DE guys and the off ball LBs will have to step it up and fill

- We've never had this quality of safeties since the Super bowl 90's dynasty - and duo pairing of Roy Williams/Darren Woodson.
Wilson and Kearse could easily be Pro Bowl discussions at season's end, imo.
Malik Hooker has never been this healthy and durable during his career - even when he entered the NFL
And keep an eye on 3rd year Israel Mukuamu - who may be flexed at both safety and CB.

Because Mike said he's going to fix our run game? He must have some awesome ideas on how to do that without adding any credible RB or Olinemen talent. I think he considers short passes as being a part of our running attack.

I am very excited to see what this team does. I was born in late 92, so I didn't witness the 90s dynasty.
