I don't think he's been underrated, he's just been good at a time when the NFL and media wanted to make Peyton Manning the face of the league and Tom Brady the best at everything because he's won so many Super Bowls. But Brees has been one of the best ever and has had to work harder than anyone, especially to make up for his short size. It's amazing to me that his arm hasn't fallen off from throwing so much. And to top it off, he's maybe only missed 6 games due to injury over his career. It's not like he had top flight WR1's his whole time either. He made Marques Colston and Robert Meachem into household names. He did have Jimmy Graham in his prime but not a ton of HOF talent around him.

He's a first ballot HOFer.

He is arguably the greatest QB of all time.

He is still 2 years younger than Brady. Give him 2 more years, and we're looking at 82k+ career passing yards.

Graham has regressed insanely since leaving the comfort of Cool Brees.

Underrated is not a word I would use to describe Drew Brees

But its true. None of the big Texas schools recruited him so he went to Purdue. He wasn't a first round pick b/c he was deemed too short and didn't have the best arm. San Diego gave up on him and drafted Phillip Rivers. They basically let Brees walk for nothing. He ends up in New Orleans with Sean Payton and the rest is history. It took a super bowl win in New Orleans for Brees to get the respect he deserved.

Drew Brees should have a better legacy than Peyton Manning. Not even a contest anymore IMO.

Manning had nothing to hang his hat on but regular season passing volume. In the playoffs he was a legendary, epic choke artist. He's literally the losingest postseason QB ever, and holds the record for the most 0-1 playoff runs. In his best Super Bowl run he threw 7 interceptions and only 3 touchdowns, and was 100% carried by the Cotls defense blowing up out of nowhere when Bob Sanders came back from injury. In his last Super Bowl run he looked like a rotting corpse and put up sub-Trent Dilfer numbers while Ware and Miller sacked people to death.

Drew Brees threw almost as many touchdowns in 1 Super Bowl as Peyton did in 4. Brees's Super Bowl playoff run was nuclear hot, with every game having a passer rating over 100. It's way more impressive than anything Peyton did in the postseason, by miles. And now Brees has the career passing title.

If Manning is a " legendary, epic choke artist", I hope we get one of those soon in Dallas. :lmao2:

He's still better than anybody since Aikman, sure. But no Cowboys team in living memory is winning a Super Bowl when their quarterback throws 7 picks in the playoffs. Romo never choked as hard in a loss as Peyton did in his 3 interception win over Kansas City in 2007.

Here's Brady's stat line from the 2010 playoff game against the Ravens : 23-42 , 154 yards, 2 TD, 3 INTs. ..............and it was in Foxboro!

It happens to the best of them. Aikman is one of the few I can recall who never really had a bad playoff game.

There was a point in his career he has something of a byproduct of the Sean Payton system.

I've long since moved past that and give credit where credit is due. He is an all-time great. Not sure where I'd place him in the Top 10 list, but he is there.

He's never won league MVP, if it's close this Year I think He'll get votes from People who think His overall career body of work deserve at least one, not sure how many times He's been top 3, but I'm betting it's quite a few.
