Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Drew Pearson is keen on the idea of Deion Sanders becoming the tenth head coach in Cowboys history.
Pearson, who is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and Cowboys Ring of Honor, joined SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Sports Radio on Thursday to discuss Dallas' head coaching vacancy.
When host Michelle Beadle asked Pearson whether he thought Sanders would be patient enough with Jerry Jones and tolerate that part of the job, Pearson didn’t mince words.
Deion would not accept the job as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys unless he had control of personnel and decisions concerning personnel. Jerry should be able to relinquish that because he should have confidence enough if he hires Deion Sanders that Deion Sanders knows what he’s doing,” Pearson said.
Pearson went on to describe why he thought Sanders would be a good hire for Dallas.
“He knows how to build programs. He knows how to find the athletes. He’s a presence in that Cowboy locker room that we haven’t had in a long time. A presence that’s been there. A presence that knows what it takes to win a Super Bowl,” Pearson said.
