Got any drive in theaters where you live? We have about 5 or so left in the state{okla}. The winchester drive is here in okc and for 6 bucks on the weekend you can see three movies and the concession prices are very good value.

ALso fyi the admiral drive in theater is just up the road in tulsa....The drive in scene from the movie the outsiders was filmed there as well as the movie was shot in tulsa as well. Sadly it burned down a couple years ago and plans to rebuild havnt been completed yet.

We have one left up the road in Wichita. Unfortunately my work schedule makes it difficult to go any more. But back in the day it was a different story. Good times. Not necessarily the movie either. :D

Does in a car with Netflix on a laptop using a 4G phone as an access point count? ;)

There are 2 less than half an hour from me in Indiana.

Yes in the part of Houston I live in a little town up 290 called Hockley opened one it is about a 15 -20 minute drive and the funny part is drive ins have had a small resurgence over the last 10 years.

We have one in a little town called Watertown, about 35 miles East of Nashville.

I miss drive-in theaters. We used to go all of the time where I grew up in McAlester, OK. :D

It's sad to see these things going by the wayside. You would figure someone would invest and keep them going. With the new technology available today, these things could be so much better than before.

I am so retro its gross. :starspin

I didn't get a chance to go much when I was young. We had two..one was a dirty movie theater (lol) and the other was normal. I saw Gremlins there when I was little. That was fun.

We have one very near in the very small town of Tiger,Georgia. It re-opened about 4 years ago,and shows pretty much first run movies.
It was first built I believe, back in the 50's,and it's main claim back then was that it showed "Thunder Road" with Robert Mitchum every Friday night for years. People kept coming on Fridays, even though they had done so many times before, because this area was known to be a bootlegger's paradise.

When they reopened after a hiatus of 30+ years, they showed "Thunder Road" on every Friday night for the first year, and still packed them in......Of course they showed a first run movie afterwards.

Sounds like my kinda place. Good story.

Tiger,GA you say? Do you recall the name of the drive in?

We still have one in the little Texas town I live in. Granbury, TX 30 miles SW of Fort Worth.

For a while I drove from Houston to Dallas at night a few times a month, and I always saw one somewhere along there on the west side of the road... Between Ennis and Corsicana, IIRC. I'd almost think it was a little farther south of that, but there's so little out there that must've been where it was.

But yeah, it was weird seeing one still in operation.

Beafort, SC (about 45 min south of Charleston) still has one.

I miss seeing Chuck Norris movies on the big-big screen.

The Tiger Drive In.

I think they have a new one in Lubbock, either two or four screens. People drive from a long ways off to experience it.

The last one in Tucson just closed last year, but someone bought the screens and says he is going to open another. I hope he will.

We have a 3 screen drive-in theater here in Lubbock called the Stars and Stripes Drive-in http://www.driveinusa.com/. It is quite a nice facility, nice food area and nice little playground for the kids to play on before the movie. They recently upgraded to completely digital projectors (I think the first drive-in in the the country to do so for the number of screens we have). I will say, it is cheap entertainment to see two movies for 6 bucks.
