Not a fan in the first.

Some injury concerns the last two years. He can disappear in games despite having high level skills. Granted, one should note that he was dealing with the death of his sister last season so it could have had some effect on his season.

I’m trying to find someone that would be worthy of selecting at #26. Michigan, Mazi Smith maybe. This doesn’t appear to be a good draft for DT’s.

Nope not a good one, in fact I don’t think any of them can come in and have impact right away. Much much rather sign a veteran even if it’s just Hankins.
I am not at all impressed with Mazi…

This is a very weak draft at the top. The middle is where the value is but then it's still the middle rounds. So it's mostly solid backups that develop into a starter or one suprises and steal a starter job.

If Dallas takes anybody playing DT at 26 that isn't Jalen Carter because he fell, I'd be mad lol. And even then I'd be thinking this guy is lazy and the word is out.

There seems to be several options at DE, CB, and OL. I was surprised by the selection last year in Smith. I understood why they chose him and I’m incredibly happy with the outcome. Hoping for another stud selection. I really like the kid out of Syracuse,OT Bergeron. I was watching him at the combine and they were comparing him to Smith. He could be someone that rises near the bottom of round 1. Have you studied him?

No, I've just been looking at Gs. My favorite is Avila

I wouldn't be mad if Mazi was the pick. Good 1 techs are getting alot of money nowadays.

He was the no 1 prospect in the country but didn't live up to that billing at Clemson. Death in the family and injury problems may have contributed. His best work may be ahead of him but then again, maybe he will continue to fall short.

Bresee is a classic traits vs tape guy, and his stock is very fluid because it's all about how much you believe in the traits.

I don't really buy the traits and rate him as a 2nd round type talent. He has very little polish as a pass rusher... the movement and athleticism jump off the tape, but he stays glued to way too many blocks. The missed time in college really shows up there... he's very raw for a 3 year starter. He does surprisingly good work as run plugger, but at 6'5" 297 with good but not elite strength, he's not really a clean projection to a 1T role either.

I just don't think Bresee is a plug and play DT. He will be a rotational type guy for probably 1 or 2 years, while you hope that both the finesse and the NFL-level strength catch up later (in fairness, almost every college DT needs time for the latter). He has huge potential as an every-down disruptor if he puts it together, but you are working against both a long learning curve and a low floor.

Scouting the helmet, he kind of reminds me of Christian Wilkins. Wilkins was billed as this slippery 3 tech type coming out, but ended up being a far stronger run defender in the pros. He's a top 10 DT in the league and will earn a bucket of money very soon, but he made it as more of an NT power guy. I see Bresee as a square-er peg than Wilkins, but he could follow a similar trajectory.

Brian Bresee DT Clemson; where do you see him going?
Im onboard with Bresee at #26.

I’ve been watching a lot of him lately. He’s a legit 6’-5” 300 lbs. Great movement skills with bend for his size. Good motor.

15 TFLs, 9 sacks in just 25 games is not bad for a DT. Jalen Carter had 18.5 TFLs, 6 sacks in 35 games.

Bresee had the 2nd fastest 10-yard splits of all the D-linemen tested.

I would be a fan at 26.
The potential is there to be a very good DT.
Watched him a few times for complete games and while he had a down year in 2022, I think he's that type of player that really blossoms in the pros.
Like @CalPolyTechnique posted, he can move well for a 300lb DT.
Only downside to him is health. Is it freak injuries or is he someone that will always find ways to get injured.
