Eagles' Licht reportedly fired
The Eagles had no comment yesterday on a report in the Trenton Times that they had fired Jason Licht, the team's vice president of player personnel since 2006.
Licht, 37, was hired by the Eagles five years ago as the assistant director of player personnel after working for four years in the New England Patriots' personnel department.
When the Eagles hired Licht, he was reunited with general manager Tom Heckert. They had worked together with the Miami Dolphins in the mid-1990s.
There was speculation that Licht might have moved into the general manager's job if Heckert had left for a similar position in Atlanta earlier this year.
Heckert, however, did not get the job, and Licht is apparently out of a job, although the Eagles would not acknowledge the move.
As of last night, Licht's biography remained on the Eagles' Web site, and he was listed just beneath Heckert and head coach Andy Reid as football-operations employees.
Attempts to reach Licht were unsuccessful, and team president Joe Banner did not return a phone call.
The Trenton Times story said Licht was told by Reid just before the draft that he should start looking for another job. The story said Licht was fired shortly after the draft.
