All i have is this used Kelvin Joseph or Jabril CoxI’m sure the market will be strong for a mediocre pass rusher that lacks athleticism and is a penalty magnet.
"Barnett was previously due to make a $7.5 million salary ($1.5M guaranteed) with up to $1M in per-game bonuses up to a max value of $8.5M. He’s now due a $3.5M guaranteed salary, with $250K in per-game bonuses and up to $2.25M in incentives (max value $6M)."he is a perfect example of why Howie is bad with the cap and does nothing but kick the can down the road. Trade him and he carries a dead money cap hit of $9.2M. cut him and and it’s $12.6M. All this on a $15M contract. Very little of his money has thus far hit the cap.
That who caught my eye to. As long as his hamstring is healthy I think he’d be a great veteran addition to our LB core. I think I read he was a team captain as well.I would rather sign Kirksey who the Texans cut today.
Kirksey and Tanner Muse both peaked my interestI would rather sign Kirksey who the Texans cut today.
How is that poor management of the salary cap by Roseman?"Barnett was previously due to make a $7.5 million salary ($1.5M guaranteed) with up to $1M in per-game bonuses up to a max value of $8.5M. Actually, due to the way the contract was written and subsequently restructured, the Eagles would have a net ZERO $ loss this season, a savings of $2.8M in 2024, and $1.17M dead money loss in 2025 and 2026.
I do not see it as poor management given Roseman restructured it knowing Barnett may not make the roster and was preemptive in mitigating losses. How is that poor management of the salary cap by Roseman?
Understood.I do not see it as poor management given Roseman restructured it knowing Barnett may not make the roster and was preemptive in mitigating losses.
That's not correct. If he is cut or traded all of the dead money comes due immediately or is split over two seasons depending on how it falls into the post 6/1 category. At this point in the year it would fall into the latter category. Those dummy years at the back end only allow you to split the SB and other bonuses over a max of 5 years while you are still on the team. The bonus $'s allocated to those outer years will all hit the cap this year or next year (in this case next year). The per game bonuses that haven't been earned go away but are minimal. The guaranteed base salary goes away if he is traded but not if he is cut. What I posted is what happens as per spotrac who I find to be the most accurate. If OTC or some other source shows different #'s then it would present a different scenario, but what you are stating is not correct."Barnett was previously due to make a $7.5 million salary ($1.5M guaranteed) with up to $1M in per-game bonuses up to a max value of $8.5M. He’s now due a $3.5M guaranteed salary, with $250K in per-game bonuses and up to $2.25M in incentives (max value $6M)."

He's an inferior washed up version of Dorance Armstrong. 6.5 sks was his career year in 2019. 2.5 sks in 2021 and tore his acl in the first game last year. Armstrong had 8.5 sks last year.Way too much money for a position where we have some depth.
Shows how strong their D-Line is though
Gonna be rough in the trenches this year.
