1. Jacksonville Jaguars - Lawrence QB
Done deal IMO, no way a new coach passes on him.
2. New York Jets - Sewell OT
I think they like Sam and will look to protect him.
3. Miami Dolphins - Wilson QB
Too good to pass on despite Tua, who will become trade bait.
4. Atlanta Falcons - Parsons OLB
They need everything so defensive stud wins.
5. Cincinnati Bengals - Chase W
They need play makers for Joe, could go OL w/ Slayter too.
6. Philadelphia Eagles - Smith WR
They need WR's so bad they can't pass, even though OL is the bigger need.
7. Detroit Lions - Fields QB
Stafford era is over and they will look to the future, but it's a bad pick IMO.
8. Carolina Panthers - Owusu-Koramoah LB
They need help in the middle of that D, could go CB here too.
9. Denver Broncos - Pitts TE
Without a top QB available they could go several spots, CB is a top choice, but so is a play maker.
10. Dallas Cowboys - Rousseau DE
PROS: Exceptional length and he knows how to use it. Does a terrific job playing with extension, keeping his pads clean and positioning himself to disengage from blocks to finish. So many of his level plays are him doing just that while taking advantage of his massive tackle radius to get the quarterback/ball carrier down. Hand placement, extension and length helps keep his pads clean and you rarely see blockers working into his frame. Miami uses him in a variety of ways, primarily as a traditional edge defender but he gets reps rushing the passer on the interior in addition to some coverage drops where he looks fluid and natural working to his landmarks. Outstanding athlete with good burst and fluidity. Good ankle flexion and there are plenty of reps where he gets his foot to catch well outside his frame and it enables him to turn tight angles. Still relatively new to the position after spending most of his high school career as a wide receiver and safety.
CONS: Finds most of his production on account of physical traits and he’s still developing technically which is completely understandable given he’s entering his redshirt sophomore year. Has a tendency to play through blocks by using his length, but his game will go to the next level as he develops more counters, swipes and proficiency stringing together pass rush moves. Would love to see him use his length more consistently to influence passing windows if his rush stalls. Fairly lean and his frame is still developing with room to add bulk.
I know lots of ya'll will be screaming CB, and that may very well be the pick, Farley and Surtain wouldn't be bad picks at all. Both are very good, safe picks and we could use either one.
But I think they need difference makers, especially on the line and this kid has so much potential to be a great pass rusher that I don't think JJ could pass up the chance to look like a football genius.
