1. Jacksonville Jaguars - Lawrence QB
Done deal IMO, no way a new coach passes on him.

2. New York Jets - Sewell OT
I think they like Sam and will look to protect him.

3. Miami Dolphins - Wilson QB
Too good to pass on despite Tua, who will become trade bait.

4. Atlanta Falcons - Parsons OLB
They need everything so defensive stud wins.

5. Cincinnati Bengals - Chase W
They need play makers for Joe, could go OL w/ Slayter too.

6. Philadelphia Eagles - Smith WR
They need WR's so bad they can't pass, even though OL is the bigger need.

7. Detroit Lions - Fields QB
Stafford era is over and they will look to the future, but it's a bad pick IMO.

8. Carolina Panthers - Owusu-Koramoah LB
They need help in the middle of that D, could go CB here too.

9. Denver Broncos - Pitts TE
Without a top QB available they could go several spots, CB is a top choice, but so is a play maker.

10. Dallas Cowboys - Rousseau DE

PROS: Exceptional length and he knows how to use it. Does a terrific job playing with extension, keeping his pads clean and positioning himself to disengage from blocks to finish. So many of his level plays are him doing just that while taking advantage of his massive tackle radius to get the quarterback/ball carrier down. Hand placement, extension and length helps keep his pads clean and you rarely see blockers working into his frame. Miami uses him in a variety of ways, primarily as a traditional edge defender but he gets reps rushing the passer on the interior in addition to some coverage drops where he looks fluid and natural working to his landmarks. Outstanding athlete with good burst and fluidity. Good ankle flexion and there are plenty of reps where he gets his foot to catch well outside his frame and it enables him to turn tight angles. Still relatively new to the position after spending most of his high school career as a wide receiver and safety.

CONS: Finds most of his production on account of physical traits and he’s still developing technically which is completely understandable given he’s entering his redshirt sophomore year. Has a tendency to play through blocks by using his length, but his game will go to the next level as he develops more counters, swipes and proficiency stringing together pass rush moves. Would love to see him use his length more consistently to influence passing windows if his rush stalls. Fairly lean and his frame is still developing with room to add bulk.

I know lots of ya'll will be screaming CB, and that may very well be the pick, Farley and Surtain wouldn't be bad picks at all. Both are very good, safe picks and we could use either one.

But I think they need difference makers, especially on the line and this kid has so much potential to be a great pass rusher that I don't think JJ could pass up the chance to look like a football genius.

I get the thought behind a lot of this, but don't really agree with any of it lol

The biggest thing is just how you have QBs going. I can buy the Jets sticking with Darnold, but there's no way they don't trade out of #2 if that's the case.

Interested to hear why you don't agree with any of it?
The Jets could easily trade out and still take a OT like Slater in the top 8-12 picks. I just wasn't getting into possible trades in this mock.

The kid from ND won't go that high IMO. I suspect he's taken in the 18-28 range.

Rousseau when Farley and Surtain are there? Not feeling it.
Rousseau is the riskiest player in the first round
I’ve watch a lot of him and he mostly played inside with no technique at all. His saving grace was his long arms and that’s not enough in the big leagues

Primarily, a QB is going to go at #2, that influences the entire rest of your draft. I also don't buy for one second that Miami is going to draft a QB or that both ATL and Philly would pass on Fields.

If I'm nitpicking, Owusu Koramoah isn't a top-10 caliber player, and Denver doesn' thave any need for Pitts - would be much better off going OL or defense, if not QB.

Philly taking a QB would be hilarious. So they traded a bunch of assets to get Wentz a few years ago, use a 2nd round pick on Hurts last year and then use a Top 6 pick on a QB this year? I mean it could happen but that would be pretty funny.

Ok thanks for your thoughts. You think very highly of your knowledge to emphatically state that a QB will go #2. But ok what ever. your opinion is just as valid as everyone else's. Here's mine on your yours:

Your thoughts on team QB needs are a bit questionable.

Why wouldn't Miami draft a QB? Did Tua convince them he was the future? Is that why they went back to Fitzmagic?
Atlanta may draft a QB, I'm sure they'd like to, if they can get a top pocket passer. I don't think they take Fields, he's not their style.
I don't really see Philly taking a QB and most of all not Fields, they already have the same QB in Hurts. Maybe Wilson if he is available.

I'm not sold on Koramoah as a top LB either, but his upside as an every down play making LB may be the highest in the class and they need a Kuechly replacement. If not they could very easily draft Surtain.
I stated that Denver could easily go anywhere, a stud TE is always a need even with Fant, CB would be my next guess. So you can swoop him out for Farley if you want.

No we don't need DE at #10 we have plenty with Lawrence, Gregory, Aldon Smith and Anea (who I think can play high motor)
If hes there Surtain would be my pick

I understand this argument and I wouldn't hate the pick. But how many times are we going to pass on stud pass rushers for other positions of greater need? Watt brothers come to mind.
I'm ready to take the possible stud and see what happens.

This all is basically why I originally said "I get the thought."

But if you think Miami may take a QB, that's exactly why a QB will go #2. Teams aren't going to sit there and wait, hoping a QB falls.

We passed on Watt to take a different kind of pass rusher in Charlton. We didn't ignore the DE position entirely in that draft.

Dallas passed on JJ Watt for Tyron Smith, can't hate on that pick. TJ Watt was passed on for Taco who is a better prospect than Rousseau.

I'm curious have you watched Rousseau on film or are you going from highlights or somebody else's opinion? He isn't a stud and I wouldn't draft him until late 2nd to 3rd round. I much rather have Kwity Paye if you just want a DL at 10........ in my broken opinion

Taco is a better prospect than Rousseau? 2-3 round? Wow man I completely disagree with that statement. Taco was regarded by most to have a ceiling of an average DE who could develop into a Marcus Spears "decent overall" type of player.
This kid is more like Ziggy Ansah. Raw, untapped pass rusher.

I have watched him some and have recently read several bio's on him as I begin my draft scouting research. I'm still very early in my research and I'm basing this on what I see as his legit potential to be a true stud pass rusher on the next level.

Everything I've seen and read says he has the size, strength, length and the talent to become that player. And he is so raw that NFL teams will jump at the chance to mold this kid into that player. Again, he had 151/2 sacks at a major college in only his second season ever playing DE. That screams natural ability for the position.

Paye is a very good player for sure and could he be an option. But I wouldn't take him at 10, I wouldn't take any DL at 10, if not for the chance at a pure pass rushing prospect. And I just don't see him as a pure pass rusher. He probably is the more complete DE, right now. He's actually probably the best version of what you could've hoped for out of Taco, if you follow what I'm saying. But IMHO, he doesn't have that pure ability to rush the QB. To me, he's maybe a safer pick, but without the 15+ sack/yr potential upside that Rousseau offers.

Rousseau has a high ceiling but a really low floor. Can't afford to miss on a top 10 pick imo.

Stop reading what you hear about him and do a film session on him. Most of those 15 sacks didn't come from the DE spot. He isn't a stud pass rusher and I think he doesn't even become a stud pass rusher.

Again, just my opinion but go watch his film and stop reading draft sites and you will see for yourself
