Emmitt Smith

The worst i can remember is a dislocated shoulder which he carried through the 4th qtr against the Giants , into overtime and got us the winning score - that game was just mental to see what he did!!!!

Training staffs nowadays would not let him do the things he did then anymore.

Too much liability involved.

Nobody "plays through" injuries like that anymore.

He was old school. Played through lots of bumps and bruises. Even came back shortly after that bad neck injury in 1996 opening night against the Bears.

They don't make em like that anymore.

Unbelievable game. He touched the ball quite a few times after the injury. Amazing performance. If I remember correctly, it was later mentioned that he was in so much pain when the team lined up for the game winning FG, that he didn't even see it happen (severe pain, almost crying, being attended to by team doctors).

Not sure if some of you know it or not, but early in emmitt smiths career, emmitt started having hamstring pulls pretty heavy and thought his career was over.

So, emmitt went out and hired his own personal trainer, kinda like the personal trainer that zach thomas had last year.

So, should felix jones get a personal trainer to keep his body limbered up, stretched out and ready to go? Since, felix seems to keep getting dinged up?

yes. if he wants to play more than 5 years.

Or five to six games in a row. This blows man. Get well soon Felix!!!

I would like to make the notion that the Cowboys don't draft anymore RB's with the last name Jones. LOL

He pulled his hamstring in 1993 against Atlanta and sat out the following game against Miami in on Thanksgiving.

He separated his shoulder the last game of the 1993 regular season and played hurt in the playoffs.

He pulled a hamstring the last fourth of the 1994 season and sat out the second half of the divisional playoff game that year and was very unhealthy in the NFC Championship, pulling both hamstrings in the fourth quarter.

He hit his knee and twisted it on Thanksgiving in 1995 and sat out the fourth quarter but missed no further games.

He sprained his neck opening day 1996 but missed no games though played stiff the first half of 1996 accordingly.

He broke his hand in 1999, ran for two TDs and 140 plus yards but the adrenaline wore off and didn't play the second half.

Broke his collarbone against Dallas in 2003, Roy Williams hit, missed a month of that season accordingly.

He was on pace to broke some kind of record that night. I remember that.

Emmitt was as tough as they come. We won't see any thing like that again.

I could easily see the guy in your sig playing through a dislocated shoulder in a game.

If I remember right, he played with bone spurs in his one or both ankles during the latter half of the 1996 season as well...especially in the Divisional game against the Panthers.

I remember when he pulled the hammy against the Packers in the divisional round of the 1994 playoffs. He had pulse therapy on the sidelines the rest of that game and throughout the championship game until, as mentioned before, both hammies were pulled. What a warrior he was. Amazing how much he was taken for granted...heck that whole nucleus was taken for granted.

I was at that game. The whole stadium erupted when it happened.
It was pure madness. I feel a bit guilty now when I think back on it :
