Pro Bowl practice notes

HONOLULU -- A few notes following Thursday's Pro Bowl practices at Kapolei High School -- which, by the way, probably is the envy of all other high schools in America because a) 86 of the biggest names in pro football are practicing at its stadium; b) It's in Hawaii; and c) Did we mention it's in Hawaii?
• Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson finally joined his AFC teammates for practice. The media had him targeted for a post-practice interview, but Johnson stiff-armed the group, basically plowing through an NFL PR person in the process. John Clayton will have more on this.
• Among those watching practice were Hall of Fame cornerback Willie Brown and Sean Taylor's dad, Pedro Taylor, who is in town with other members of the Taylor family. The late Commanders safety is being honored in a variety of ways this weekend.
Also in attendance was Cowboys assistant Jason Garrett, who just recently moved into a higher tax bracket, and new Hawaii coach Greg McMackin, who was checking to see if any of the NFC quarterbacks had one more year of college eligibility as a replacement for Colt Brennan.
• A small contingent of family members are with Commanders tight end Chris Cooley this week, including his fiancee, ex-Commanders cheerleader Christy Ogilvie (Chris + Christy = cute).
When pressed by local media guy Super Bowl Wayne (yep, that's his moniker) about why he just didn't go ahead and get married this week in an island ceremony, Cooley said too much money has already been spent on the May 3 ceremony.
And if you haven't received an invite yet, don't worry -- it's probably in the mail.
• When asked about his earliest football memory, Browns tight end Kellen Winslow said he can remember being five years old and dressing up "in a Dan Fouts uniform. I used to line dolls up and then would tackle 'em."
Of course, that begs the question: A Fouts uniform and not the uniform of, oh, let's say, Kellen Winslow Sr.? Wasn't the old man a little perturbed at that?
"Hey, they didn't sell my dad's uniform back then," Winslow replied.
Well, we may have to double-check that. This could turn into a major story. Stay tuned.
