i

Baseball voted in a major rule change that will reshape bullpen usage. How will it work and who will it impact most?

Love the idea of speeding it up, but this is SO bizarre.

So you're team is up 6-0, the starter is getting tired after a great days work on 100 pitches
You put in a reliever....no need to wreck the starters arm
But for whatever reason, the reliever is just way off. Getting shelled
But you cant pull him unless he gets three outs?
Whacky

Three batters, not three outs.

It’s three batters.

It’s more to speed the game up and not have a different pitcher for three consecutive batters!

Since there's an exemption for injury, how long before We get "injury" controversies, unless You have to miss the next game if you leave early due to injury, or a team has to substitute like for like in case of injury, You'll just get lots of suspicious arm twinges and imaginary boo-boo's to facilitate more advantageous match-ups.

I hope it is for regular season only and back to normal for the playoffs.

Thank god. This will speed up games without effecting the integrity of the game.

Well, that can only serve to make the game more exciting and force starters to EARN their wins. Baseball was a better game before the middle relievers took over.

Next up is more double headers and a shorter calender season. The world series should be a show case and not in competition with football. A 6 month season is plenty.

Pretty easy to miss the next game as a MLB pitcher

I know, but it's about the best deterrent I can come up with.
If a Team planned to Use a reliver in their next game, it might make them think twice about feigning an injury, but most times they won't care, as it stands now, this rule will quickly become a farce

For a minute there Londy, I thought you were referring to Wentz and I was in the wrong thread.
Talk about a quick double-take. :lmao:
