Big East and Big 12 conference and school officials have been exploring ways to merge their embattled leagues, but talks have centered on an arrangement in which what's left of the Big East schools would blend into the Big 12, and not vice-versa, multiple Big 12 sources told ESPN.com's Andy Katz.

may be a temporary solution, but some conference will likely want Kansas (and thus K-State), probably the big 10.

Missouri and West Virginia are both being eyed for the SEC, so if offered, they'll make the move.

The Big 12 is likely dead and the Big East will likely just be a basketball conference and a non BCS football conference.

Sounds like the SEC, IF they decide to take another will only want one of them (Missouri / West Virgina) and not both.

and once everyone is sitting at 16, the SEC will expand to that. They can afford to be picky, because their teams aren't going anywhere. But, they'll likely take WVU sometime soon.

also, look for UConn and Rutgers to join the ACC (which would put them at 16). Only hold up will be *IF* and this is a big if, Notre Dame would rather join the ACC than the big 10.

Its really not the Big12 they are mulling over. It's the remainder of the Big12 once OU/UT/TT/OSU leave for the Pac12.

I think the ACC and the SEC have rejected WVU's request to their conference.

I hope WVU finds a way to upset LSU this Saturday.

The SEC won't stay at 13. Again, they're being picky. WVU, will leave the Big East before all the dust settles. Even if the SEC somehow raids the ACC (Florida State and/or Miami), then the ACC will likely reach out to WVU.

I was just thinking. If the Pac10 is going to create pods. They were stupid for not making sure they got TA&M also.

I wouldn't mind seeing TCU in pod A and Boise State in pod D. Of course, they probably don't want them because they are so small.

Why's that? Obviously if they could do it over, they would invite TX, TT, Tx A&M, OU and OSU, but when they started expanding, Utah and Colorado were the first to take invitations.

IMO, those school presidents and ADs should be commended because had they waited, they would've definately been left with out.

If UCONN makes it to the ACC, then that easily becomes the best basketball conference. And the ACC was already a rather good basketball conference to begin with.

According to this WVU was rejected because the SEC is eyeing Missouri. And as said earlier, I believe the ACC is eyeing UConn and Rutgers, with a hope, that Notre Dame wants to join.

WVU has a pretty solid football program and I'd be suprised if they got left out. Still think when the SEC is ready to expand, they'll call WVU.

Wonder where TCU will end up? I would think when the SEC is ready to add #15 and #16, they would be an attractive member. In state competition with Tx A&M and they clearly can pull their own weight.

ACC basketball will be interesting, mainly because the former Big East teams play much more physical than their ACC counterparts. Will be fun seeing them 2 and sometimes 3 times a year.

Because as of right now, Texas A&M is headed to the SEC. (baring the legal happenings)

why is it stupid that they let A&M head to the SEC? they wanted a max of 16 and A&M would've been 17.

Maybe A&M wanted to be the only Tx school in the conference?

You want Texas Tech over Texas A&M? Dude, you need to rethink what you're saying. Texas A&M's following is HUGE. Especially compared to Texas Tech. Texas A&M made $74M and Texas Tech made $42M last year.

That is an easy choice.

big 12 needs to add byu, wva, louisville, south florida, tcu, air force, cincinnati and lock down long term commitments from each school with huge exit fees.

I don't live in Tx, so I really don't know who is bigger. I was simply asking because I didn't know why you would think it's stupid.
