I would call to see if the Steelers would take a conditional 7th-round pick for Najee Harris

NFL fifth-year option tracker: 2021 first-round draft class

The deadline for NFL teams to pick up fifth-year options on the rookie contracts of 2021 first-round draft picks has passed. Teams have decided whether or not to keep those players for a fifth season.

Some teams chose to sign players -- like Eagles WR DeVonta Smith -- to contract extensions; others simply picked up or declined the option.

Below, we tracked all of the picked-up and declined options for the 2021 class.

What is a fifth-year option?

According to OverTheCap.com, the 2020 collective bargaining agreement allows teams to exercise a fifth-year option for players drafted in the first round as an addition to the standard four-year rookie contract. Upon being exercised, the fifth-year option is fully guaranteed, and any base salary in the player's fourth year that was not fully guaranteed will become so. The fifth-year salary is calculated based on four tiers: Basic, playing time, one Pro Bowl and multiple Pro Bowls.

The 2021 first-round draft class

i

No. 1 overall pick: Trevor Lawrence, QB, Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars have picked up Lawrence's fifth-year option -- though the team could sign Lawrence to a long-term extension before the QB even hits his fifth season. Lawrence has thrown for 11,770 yards and 58 touchdowns in his three seasons with the Jaguars. He will earn an estimated $25.7 million in 2025.

Their RB room is crappier than ours behind him.

I would contact about Harris for a 6th, or 7th. Sign Leatherwood for camp to play OG and put him on the PSquad. Trade a 7th for Zavier Collins to play him at RDE/WLB. He played extremely well vs Dallas.

There is talent there and Collins was not bad and could be versatile at MLB, OLB, or DE.

I would love to pick up Najee Harris. When healthy he’s good. Trade a 5th for him. Zeke Harris deuce and hunter pairing. Royce freeman odd man out.

This should be a lesson to all those that think that getting rid of Dak is the answer. 4 out of the 5 QBs taken did not have their 5th year option picked up.
The thing is, getting rid of him doesn't solve our problems, and extending him may not solve it either.

Why would Pitt take a 5th for Harris when they can get a comp pick next year? Plus he's their lead back and they didn't draft an RB.

From Dallas side, his cap hit is over $4mil and they have already showed us that they are not willing to pay. Add that Zeke is back at $3m. No chance at all.

Dak is not leaving. The Cowboys are being absolutely SMART in how they handle Dak. Let Dak play out his deal. If he plays wel in regular season again and then craps the bed in the 1st rd of playoffs, there is no way we or anyone else will give him 60 million per season. But 50 million is absolutely in play. And the Cowboys would have no problems doing that.

If Dak plays great and takes us to at least the NFC title game, hes gonna get 60 million, and the Cowboys would also gladly do that.
If another team offers 55 million and we match that, Dak ist leaving. He has his house in the area, his entire career in this area....... I just dont know why anyone thinks what the FO is doing with Dak is a bad thing.

Right now Dak is likely trying to get 60 million and the Cowboys are saying no way to that amount today. Does anyone disagree with that stance?
