Next week's mandatory minicamp? Check. Darrelle Revis said he's planning to attend even though he's not happy with his current contract. Beyond next week is a different story, as the New York Jets' star cornerback didn't rule out the possibility of a training-camp holdout.Revis, commenting Thursday for the first time since his one-day boycott of voluntary practices last week, also spoke cryptically about his plans if he still doesn't have a new contract by the start of the regular season.
"You'll know. It's not going to be hidden," he told reporters after practice. "... If things are not the right way, I need to sit back and view my career and see where I need to go from here."

I know this is pipe, but I would love to see Revis be paired with Mike Jenkins. We have a log jam at receiver and RB. Plus draft picks. That being said, is there any way to pry him from NY? They could have TNewman too.

Thoughts?

I know Scandrick had his ups and downs last year. Still, I feel good enough about him that I'd rather let him develop into the other starter than pay Revis the $80+ million it will probably take to land him.

Paying him would be a problem - I'll admit. But we are going to an uncapped year. Maybe naive of me, but we could pay him amongst the top CBs in the league for this one year, meanwhile we could work on a long-term deal for him to sign later in the year.

To have two shut down corners would be awesome. Think of what that would do in our run defense, pass rush, etc. Our defense would be a turnover machine. Our field position would be outstanding. D Ware would probably shatter the single season sack record.

Most important, Revis could teach Mike Jenkins some of his tricks as well.

Again, I know: pipe. But one can dream right? :laugh2:

Bump. It's August, and he is still unsigned:

A few hours after New York Jets owner Woody Johnson indicated the team would be reaching out to Darrelle Revis' agent, it happened.Late Monday night, general manager Mike Tannenbaum had a "lengthy conversation" with Neil Schwartz, the agent told ESPNNewYork.com Tuesday afternoon. Schwartz declined to characterize the nature of the discussion, calling it "confidential."
It was an attempt by the Jets to facilitate negotiations. The two sides are trying to negotiate a new contract for the All-Pro cornerback, but they were so far apart that Revis refused to report to training camp. As a holdout, he's being fined more than $16,000 per day. So far, the bill is over $48,000.
On Monday afternoon, Johnson stepped into the fray, telling reporters the team is ready, willing and able to give Revis a contract extension. Johnson denied speculation that a cash-flow problem is the reason why they haven't offered a substantial signing bonus. If that's true, the two sides should be able to hammer out an agreement -- in theory.
