Malachi Lawrence - Every snap from his NFL preseason debut

This is nice to see a break iso of his plays. IMO, he did ok. nothing special obviously. But I liked how he was able to handle or beat most blocks in the run game and still get in on the play. He got close to the QB on few of his rushes. He seems better going inside rather than out. He needs to work on his angle a bit too.

I thought he looked very good. None of those plays will be on Sportscenter, but his burst as a pass rusher is obvious, and he is willing and able to take on blocks in the run game, which is always the big concern when you draft a 250 lb speed rusher.

Seattle didn't give Lawrence many chances to pin his ears back and go. That's not the gameplan with Jalen Milroe... you don't call seven-step drops for him. Lawrence was asked to play more run defense and more contain on QB options, and he did that well.

3 words…R Mason Thomas. Banged that drum before the draft. KC got a steal again
I liked him alot too. He was balling in a few chiefs clips I saw.
Thomas is more NFL ready. He will be a good player, but I think he caps about a 9 sack guy. Lawrence has more upside, and where he needs to be behind Miller. Without Miller he get gets 500-600 snaps this year. He has no business being on the field that much on what hopes to be a winning. He will probably get 300-400 snaps now which is where he needs to be

Nothing really stood out on film positive or negative, he filled some gaps and impacted a few of those running plays. This is pretty much what I expected of him

I'm not asking for much, just some first pregame highlights like this guy (below) who would have killed it in our new 3-4.

Or I'll take a brand new defensive coordinator who gets 0 missed tackles from his band of misfit 3-4 hybrids all just trying to make the team!

He wouldn't have killed it because Clark, Quinnen, and Gary wouldn't be here. Micah was a first half of the year, first half of the game guy. He was useless late in games and late in the season.

The coaches and players were tired of his act. He's was obnoxious, lazy, and condescending, and he routinely went after his coaches and teammates on his podcast.

This team is so much better off without him.

Lawrence was fine. He looked like a rookie from a smaller school, which he is.

The ability is there, you can see it. It'll take a year or two.

Shouldve taken Messidor smh

It's impossible to evaluate when they're asking him to just stay home on the backside for so many of these plays. Only had 2-3 true passrushes.

Real strong at the POA at :36 seconds.
Good rush at :41 seconds.

Those are probably the two most meaningful snaps from this tape.

Looked like I would expect a rooking DE to look in his first game, some good and some bad. More good then bad though.
He definitely didn't look like he shouldn't be on the field. He'll probably be a guy with an 11% or 12% win rate and 1 or 2 sacks this year. Pretty typical for a 1st round rusher

Worst moves by the Cowboys UPDATED 2026!

1. Drafting Lawrence
2. Firing Jimmy
3. Firing Landry

jk

Way too early to tell in what we have with Lawrence.

Schotty told us last week in the media that Lawrence will need time to develop so to speak. So I am going to give the guy some grace since he has the star on his helmet for a couple of seasons. But I wanted Cashius Howell at the spot if I am being completely honest with you guys.

With that being said, we have to dance, with who we brought.

I wish he didn't slip on that one rollout so we could have seen how he played it

Cashius had a similar looking game, but did get a sack at the end of his time.

Just an inability of fans to evaluate.
I thought it was a pretty accurate description of what he did
He said the edge, didn’t get fooled
When they weren’t coming his way, he attacked the quarterback
What are you seeing that I’m not?

Is this a real photo or AI ?

I had a double-take as it looks like Zeke.......or should I say Zeke when he turns 50.
He’s 25, not 52. :)

It’s a silly ai meme. These were around during the draft and post draft
