The offseason was going perfect. They didn't resign Dak, had Cee Dee holding out and didn't add any talent at running back. They had it all set up perfect to let Dak show what he could do as the main guy without much talent around him. Let him earn it all or let him fail and we know what woulda happened. Then it looked like the minute after Lance **** the bed in the last preseason game that the entire plan to let Dak play out the season fell through. Now we are stuck with a middle of the pack QB being paid as a top 3 QB for another 4 more seasons. Man I woulda loved to watch him walk, tank next year and have the chance at a Manning. Dam, well looking forward to 2030 I guess.

It's been a 28-year head-on collision in slow motion.

They have no idea what they're doing, even when they stumble upon a decent roster to build from by accident. They hang on to their mistakes too long, and they fool themselves into believing their shortcomings aren't urgent enough to address.

They just don't know how football works. It's fantasy football idiocy in real time.

Losing all those players, hardly doing anything in FA, great draft but they’re still rookies that need time to develop, no run game on either side of the ball, then expecting the QB to be able to do anything?

And that was perfection? How was he supposed to show what he could do in that scenario with one legit receiver and no running game at all?

JJ is football idiot, and his idiot son is a thousand times worse.

1k likes. Signing him felt like 4 more years of futile football

Should have
I was willing to let the season go as it went. I had no problem not paying lamb or Prescott. Young offensive line young defensive actually. You got lamb in the draft. We could find another one. I after taking a top five pick for a quarterback. Probably would’ve gotten third overall pick. You have to love Jerry thank you GM.

Although I don’t put the entire blame on Prescott, he’s more than capable. The entire team, just pushed the button.

perfect offseason? really. you need to change your name...because signing zeke instead of Henry is when the offseason went off the rails. when we didn't sign a DT or LB that's worth it. when they were safties available, but hey we like our guys...this was by far one of the worse offseasons cowboys have ever had. I mean Jerry the Drama Liking Jones, waited literally until 5 minutes before the game to sign Dak.

this is all Jerry's doing, because as a GM he is responsible to know the team, the players and the make up of the team and he had no clue.

I didn’t want to tank the season, but i did just want to play out ,the way it played out. Find out who wants to be here and who doesn’t. Jimmy’s revolving door.

I agree with your take here. I think Jerry had a plan to let Dak play out the contract and then, barring a super bowl, hand the ball to Lance. But Lance showed in the preseason that he's not a starting QB........ then suddenly there is newfound urgency to sign Dak and CD. Jerry has basically signed us up for mediocrity with a team paying 3 guys 40% of the cap. We need to trade Micah badly, but Jerry is going to sign him.

Just what we needed, another Dak thread. We'll play Pittsburgh without Parsons, Bland, Lawrence and Sam Williams this week, but rest assured if only we got rid of Dak we'd have a chance to win!

Yep, to all of the above. It was shaping up nicely. And your timeline is spot on too. Cheers to the post 2030 Cowboys. Maybe we can become an actual playoff contender by then. Cuz we sure aint for the next 4 years. GREAT post.
