Police investigate after Colts' Wayne says ex-girlfriend stole $93K

Associated Press
INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis police are investigating after Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne told them that an ex-girlfriend may have used his credit card number to make more than $93,000 in online purchases.
A police report filed in April said Wayne was contacted by a department store about an attempted transaction and he learned that up to 333 charges had been made on the account since September.
The report said Wayne didn't know how the woman got the number.
A message seeking comment was left Saturday with an agent for Wayne. Last season, he had 100 receptions for 1,264 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Why do news services feel compelled to include a pro player's stats in every article involving him, regardless of topic?

It amuses me.

Agreed, at least they could do it like this:

"Ben Roethlisberger is accused of raping a girl.

The 2 time SB winning QB threw for 3500 yards but did throw 16 interceptions, which lead some to believe his decision making off the field may be as poor as some of the decisions he makes on the field as well."

That's a capital idea!

At the very least, they could attempt to relate the stats back to the story: "Ben Roethlisberger is known for occasionally forcing his balls into coverage -- on the field as well."

Excellent. Ben Ruthlessraper, the ubiquitous icon for jokes of questionable taste and innuendo for the rest of his career.

Yeah I know.

I guess the idiot never checks his statements.

Besides that, I bet I could tell if someone was stealing from me.

This thread has "Alan Ball" potential.

There's a large concern within the Cowboys organization that Ball is too small to hold up against the rigors and incessant beatings of an entire season as season.
