Some part of it is people think it is hilarious to hear an elderly woman use foul language and sex jokes or other crazy stuff, I think a lot of that aspect started when she did the Comedy Central Roast of William Shatner (that was the most vulgar thing I have ever seen), and Lake Placid etc.,

She is also honestly funny and people are nostalgic like others mentioned, so I'm not saying the above part is bad/good just a part of it.
